The golden dorato [also known as the river tiger, Salminus maxillosus] is a huge predatory fish found in central South America. It’s the largest scaly fish in the Rio de la Plata Basin, with the heaviest recorded specimen weighing in at 75 pounds. The golden dorato is highly sought after by anglers due to its beautiful color and aggressive fighting spirit, and it has suffered a population decline because of this.
