Let's get messed up!
No, I don't mean get wasted (although, hey, be my guest), I mean go watch some messed up movies! Depending where you feel like traveling tonight, you've got your pick of relationship and paranormal problems:
McCarren Park: The L Magazine's Summer Screen shows Ghost World at 8pm. I don't know what's sadder in this movie - the aching loneliness of Steve Buscemi's Seymour or the knowledge the Scarlett Johansson would go on to make things like The Island.
Pier 63: The Kids Are All Right screens at sundown. Consider this a pre-party to all the legal same-sex marriages that will be blowing up all over the state this weekend. I'll bet most of them won't include an awkward love triangle with a long-lost sperm donor, however.
Pier I: Invasion of the Body Snatchers strikes at sundown. For those of you who prefer your dysfunction in the form of a good ol' fashioned alien invasion, the befuddled Kevin McCarthy is here to lead the way. Of course, by "alien invasion" I mean "not-so-subtle Communist paranoia."
Maybe pop some Klonopin with that popcorn...
