Following on from the previous post, let’s hear a recent demo from 按樂團, one of 6 posted to their channel in July. =D
And there’s Nat from 25th Parallel 緯度二十五 on drums in this Riverside Music Cafe clip from May of this year. Nice & jazzy!

Murmurshow 慢慢說樂團 did a 40 minute stream to fb earlier on Wed. I dunno, those big glasses frames plus the wide-angle/fisheye camera lens...?

The duo were at Riverside Music Cafe the same night that Yi-Cheng Yi-Ching 依錚依靜 were upstairs at Kafka. (Feb. 18th). I wonder if any peeps skipped in and out, trying to see both shows?
Riverside Music Cafe (left) and Kafka by the Sea side-by-side entrances in Google StreetView. If I recall correctly, I think @stayinblue told me that Witch House and The Wall Live House are just down the street or around the corner. Instant live music scene, very convenient! =D
The full night of 米星星 Ricing Star and Crispy 脆樂團 at Riverside Music Cafe has been uploaded to this YT; it seems like some nearly full set-length clips, but also broken up into songs. (I haven’t watched it all)
I picked this one because both Jei-Ann and Emily are playing electric on this tune, but also because this was the portion of the set where they had bass & drums. =D
胡月 Children in Love announced that the name change (from Western Moon) is gonna stick:
“Hello dear fans, We would like to announce you that we've officially changed our name to 胡月 Children in Love. We will soon tell you the story behind it. Meanwhile, let's watch a little film, that of one of our last songs, Princess, beautifully captured by Taiwanese photographer 林布朗 at Taipei Riverside last week. Cheers =)”
And that is a very beautiful song. (even with the slightly abrasive synth break in the middle) =D
Here is symphonic metal band Frost Tears 冰霜之淚. The singer is Melody Wang, with unison and growly help from guitarist Chih-chia Chen.
They came up in my YT feed from TW uploaders. To be honest, the live clip didn’t do them justice, they are way too intense for a gig at Riverside Music Cafe. 0_0
But I’m impressed with their recordings, let’s here a sample of songs from their 2014 album, Nine Chapters 九章:
The bonus track is a glorious version of Amazing Grace. You can hear a longer version over at iNDIEVOX. (http://www.indievox.com/frosttears)
And can I also add that this band has by far the best about section of any TW band on facebook. They list every member by romanized full name, nickname, as well as personal fb page. They give the year each musician joined the band, they list previous members. There’s a full description of the style of music, history of the band, including recording dates, booking info, links to streetvoice/indievox, etc. Very thorough and professional!
Knowing how many musicians play in multiple bands, being able to have all the variations of the name is a big help for this blog - so many bands don’t list full names, or only nicknames, and sometimes no names at all! I know of musicians who don’t even have the same nickname from band to band, LOL. Anyway, if you are a member of a band and you read this, do me a favor and put some helpful info on your facebook. =D
米星星 Ricing Star from Riverside Music Cafe this past Sunday -- I’m really enjoying this 8-clip set! Talented duo, and you get to see all of Emily’s tricks with singing, live-looping, guitar tapping, etc.
Actually, it is kind of surprising that Emily takes most of the solo guitar, because Jei-Ann is such a wonderful player, but if you listen closely, he’s doing quite a bit of technical playing. =D They did at least 2 covers, including 小幸運 (Hebe) and 喜劇之王 (Ronghao Li)
輕晨電 Morning Call’s new MV ahs kind of a sci-fi look, I really have no idea what I was watching – maybe elongated metro scenes – but the song is certainly beautiful! =D
Just noticed somebody posted a link to a live clip of the same song, recorded at Riverside Music Cafe just over a year ago; the uploader has 7 more songs from this gig, and a plethora of other indie live sets:
Senhuai Jan 詹森淮 (formerly Jhan Yu Chi 詹宇琦) played at Riverside Music Cafe last month, the whole set is uploaded HERE. =)
She also just posted a lovely new song to StreetVoice, take a listen!
