🍎🐍 Rib and Loum, from my webcomic, Rivets
been thinking…i really want to make Rivets a comic, but I've been writing it as a novel lately…what if my first edition of it is an illustrated novel with really lavish tapestries that i draw at my leisure. a mixed media catalog of Rivets. with the written story, illustrations, instruction manuals, uniform designs, etc. just a collage of worldbuilding. i do still envision a comic and an animation someday, but for this draft, i'm tired of standardizing myself. it's so much easier and faster for me to write than to draw, and then i can save the drawing power for the key moments. i'm just tired of adjusting my natural flow state and funneling it down. i'm tired of fighting my disabilities' needs while making a story about disability. the idea of creating a story in a way that makes sense to my body and mind is exciting to me. it makes it less marketable, but i just don't care, i'd rather tell it my way than have it keep eating me up inside untold. i'd rather find the audience that's looking for exactly what i'm making, and how i'm making it.

something i love abt being a disabled artist is the way we weave accessibility into our fashion. for Rib that means cut sleeves and wrist wraps for support. it also just looks damn good. form and function.
