ever since i saw the announcement that this group of vtubers i’ve literally never heard of was doing a concert/meet n greets at my local con, i’ve been following this little pink vtuber guy like a duckling 😭 when i started drawing him, i was HOOKED dude

for the first time since i started drawing, i loved it. i genuinely adored drawing riyo, no matter if it looked bad in the end or if it didn’t match my other styles just right, all i knew is i wanted to draw him, so i was going to. i started creating actual finished pieces because i found ways of rendering that i enjoyed from practicing with riyo so much. i started to realize that it didn’t matter who liked my art as long as i liked it. if i wanted to draw the same vtuber 5 times in a week, i could!!

drawing riyo gave me my passion for art back and i couldn’t thank him enough :(

i know it doesn’t seem like much but for me, this is a huge feat. most of the time before i started drawing him, i couldn’t even finish a single sketch, let alone coloring it and cleaning it up. now, i can confidently make rendered pieces for myself and other people because of how happy i was to draw + how much support i got from every riyo piece. especially support from riyo himself

when i met riyo at san japan and told him my name, he knew who i was!!!! he immediately thanked me for all of the art i had made for him the week before, and i was absolutely ecstatic. he was so kind and i was SO nervous, but it was still an amazing conversation i’ll always remember. i’ve never gotten so much support from someone i look up to, but it means so much to me. i really hope this doesn’t come off as parasocial in any way because that is NOT my intention 😭 but, point is, otoharu riyo inadvertently gave me my passion back and i thank him for that
