mga season 5, winners prize aug. 27th, the interview w/ team sirius: @rkmason, @rkchaeryeong, @rkkhg

it was honestly a surprise to her, when the mnet staff contacted her. it made her week busier than it needed to be but she welcomed it with open arms. yeji had already memorized the performance for the evaluation. so this would be a test for her.

on the 27th she met up with the rest of the members, even if both her and chaeryeong had gotten signed at trc-- it was still nice to see the younger female in this setting. yeji smiled warmly at minho and hyunggu when she saw them. this would be their last appearance as team sirius. now it was time for them to have a photoshoot-- but also an interview.

“how was your overall experience in the mgas yeji ssi?” the staff asked her, yeji looked at them with her brows raised, “i think it was a good experience, i grew alot the past two months, there were many downs--” once again she remembered those that got eliminated, “but i think i did those that got eliminated justice? by being on the team that won in the end.” yeji gave the other an eye smile.

“were you surprised that you won?” again another question that she wasn’t sure how to answer, “yes i was shocked to win, i know people think we only won because of minho oppa but... that is rather insensitive to both myself, chaeryeong and hyunggu’s skills as performers because if it was only for him, then we wouldn’t have made it this far. even if our trc performance was something that minho oppa suggested, i like to think that we completed each other.”

yeji was about to walk off but then the interviewer managed to ask her another question, “how is it? being a trainee?” she turned around to glance at them, “being a traine is new-- the mgas were more hectic while being a trainee feels more stable. even if i know that if i don’t meet whatever expectations they have of me, i might get kicked-- but i’ll take those sorrows at that time. for now i’m just happy. i had bee on a private audition or trc previously so being signed to trc was a surprise but-- i’m happy, that tiger jk seemed to have changed his mind.”

she chuckled softly before making her way in front of the camera, to take some pictures for the fan signing event. yeji wanted to do meet the fans well, she wasn’t sure when she would be able to be in a situation where she would be able to perform in front of people and meet fans again like this, ‘i better make the most of it.’

MGA SEASON 5: THE FINAL PRIZE!

As a reward for winning the Mnet Global Audition Season 5, Team Sirius, the one representing TRC, will get to appear on the next episode of M!Countdown, to be filmed and aired on August 29th. Not only that, but the group will also get their own fansign where they’ll get the chance to interact with a small number of fans, as well as a special photoshoot and interview for the magazine Singles.

25th of August: All the members would have been gotten in contact by Mnet representatives either through their company (in case they were signed) or their given phone number. They are encouraged to practice both their group performances from the finale during their free time by themselves.

27th of August: The group will have their photoshoot in a closed set. There’ll be different shots of them in a group, solo, and in duos separated by boys and girls. The interview will surround their MGA experience as well as how it felt like to become a trainee for those who did. You may use this photoshoot for reference.

28th of August: All members will be allowed to rehearse together in one of TRC’s practice rooms for their group performances that will take place on the following day.

29th of August: They should all arrive on the set of M!Countdown at 6AM to get their hair and makeup done early. Two rehearsals of each stage will be done in full stage outfits at 9AM and 11AM. The Nova stage will be filmed at 2PM while the TRC performance will be recorded live during the airing of the show at 7PM. Both performances will have a backtrack of the original audio playing, so the muses are not required to sing live. All members will get to stand on the stage during the final portion of the program together with the other artists who performed that day.

31st of August: Team Sirius will have their group fansign event. A post will be made on the MGAs official website a week before, on the 24th, where a total of 150 people will get to confirm their presence for the event. It’ll be held at Gimpo Airport, starting at 2PM. Fans will receive a small photo book with 5 different pictures taken from their photoshoot a week before to be signed by all the members of the group. These pictures are different from the ones who’ll come out in the official Single issue, making these a limited edition. It’ll end with a live performance of their TRC stage.

Participants have until Saturday, the 7th of September, at midnight EST to post a 200+ words solo about their interview experience. By doing so, they’ll receive +2 CHARISMA POINTS and +1 DEBUT POINT. Non-trainee muses won’t get to collect this debut point, even after they’re signed. There’s no need to verify these points and they should be added to the point tally once the requirements are met. Participants have until Saturday, the 7th of September, at midnight EST to post a 200+ words solo or a four-post thread with another finalist about any other part of their schedule, including the day at M!Countdown or their fansign. By doing so, they’ll receive +3 SKILL POINTS TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS DESIRED and all signed muses will receive a bonus +1 DEBUT POINT. Non-trainee muses won’t get to collect this debut point, even after they’re signed. There’s no need to verify these points and they should be added to the point tally once the requirements are met. If muns are unable to write the requirements, there are no consequences; they just won’t be able to claim points for this final prize.

he’s had a number of surprising phone calls in the last few years and each has led him down a different path than the other. the same goal, the same idea of an endgame in mind, and yet somehow he’s ended up here: placed in situations where all the members of team sirius were signed but him and the accidental slip in the interviewer’s words make him smile weakly; it’s endearing in a way and yet painfully awkward for him. instead, it leaves him wondering if they were told not to ask anything about his past with convex and even in nova, because this is for a magazine and not mnet’s evil editing. should be safer, right? yet he still feels as if he’s a bit on the edge. 

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ Q .  would you do it again? 

it’s a bit selfish— that he thinks of everything and not just this past season, not just his experience with team sirius, not just the past few months of his life in which he affected more than 12 lives; he created ripples with his decisions, but would he change anything? deja vu strikes him but he can’t recall saying any of it aloud: because he would do it again. all of it. from the day he landed in seoul to today. any change of his past wouldn’t make him the man he is today [even if he isn’t sure that’s the best choice either]. the only thing he’d change is hurting anyone in the process but there’s no going back. 

“in a heartbeat.”

“i mean, hey, don’t get me wrong! there’s moments i’ll think i could’ve done more here or maybe this would be better. but the end result was beautiful. our performance as a team was beautiful. all the performances i was a part of...” tapping his chest, he grins. “there’s a special place in here for all of ‘em and that’s what music should be, what performances should be. yeah, it should catch your eye, keep your attention, but the biggest and best thing it can do? leave an impression on your heart and soul. i hope those watching felt that too.”

his first thought, surprisingly, is baek jiyoung. because he wrote her what kind of person he wants to be, and, ultimately what kind of idol, what kind of artist he wants to be. 

kids like me, we’re not taken seriously. if you wanna dance, you don’t have a future. you can only do things with your body and not your mind. it’s not true. what i want is for people to know if i can do it, if i can believe in myself, then they should believe in themselves too. being a star or being a crowd in the face, if someone believes in me and in turn can believe in their self, i’m gonna be happy.

so he smiles— he can still smile when he thinks of his former ceo— when he finally says it out loud. “i want to be the kind of artist that makes people believe in themselves. if someone can feel something because of my work or relate to it... isn’t that the best feeling for an artist? it’s how we express ourselves so if someone else feels it, understands it, gets it, that’s the best gift i could ask for.”

“How was it to win? Did you expect it?” Was the first question.

“Hmm,” the girl took a moment to collect her thoughts. “Well, it was great to win, of course. I hoped for it to happen, but wasn't quite sure, all teams did great and suited their given companies. You can't see yourself, so it can be difficult to judge how you did, too.” It was a surprisingly honest answer and after a small pause she continued. “At the same time, I think the team is overall very skilled and worked well together. Yeji, Hyunggu and Minho all have their own skills and uniqueness, it was fun to work with every one of them, which made practising easier. It would've been disappointing not to win.”

“How was your experience during the show? Would you do anything different?”

“Everything!” she quickly answered to the second part of the question, “I'd choose different songs and would have prepared more beforehand. I did my best, but with a different perspective now, I could have done things differently and I think that difference could've well changed things for the better. At the same time, I'm still proud. It was taxing for everyone on the show, wanting to do more than one's best. Working with other people can also always be difficult, so I'm glad about who I was paired with, I think I got really lucky there. I've grown especially fond of the team for the final two episodes and I've grown a lot thanks to them, too! I even wrote my very own few rap lines, I never expected that!” The girl got more emotional in her words than she usually did, it was awkward but now she couldn't take her words back, instead she laughed a little after her last few words.

“Finally, how is trainee life?”

It didn't take long for a teeth-showing grin to brighten Chaeryeong's face, “It's great! Difficult, but still great. I love it, I can do all day, what I've always loved doing. It's tiring and exhausting too, but so far I don't mind that much,” she said, maybe having laid it on a little thickly, but she really did feel that way. Being a trainee aside school held a lot of difficulties, especially in her senior year, but she didn't worry about it too much.
