200504 | like anyone else, jinwook treasures the rest days in the middle of a promotion cycle, but he can’t complain about the extra schedule this time. with only three members present there’s much less idle time, so the day flies by. it’s comfortable, too, no matter how many teasing grins and nudges they’ve given each other during the cheesy scenes with the actress playing their love interest. this whole experience has been comfortable, really, and jinwook can’t stop feeling grateful about the opportunity. a few extra early mornings seems like such a small price to pay.
it’s only once they’re waiting for the crew to set up the exam room that jinwook finally breaks out his whiny voice. “i know it’s a joke, but this setting is giving me flashbacks.” he chuckles, to offset the fact that he’s way too old for the scene to actually be sparking anxiety in his stomach. muscle memory, or something. jinwook wishes his body had this kind of recall for convex’s old choreography. he bumps his shoulder into sehun’s. “what do you think, sehunnie? you took the exams the most recently between us.” jinwook scans the room to see if their co-star is within earshot. once the coast is clear, he acts out a dreamy sigh. “i guess it can’t be so bad, if someone like miss hyuna will be the proctor~”
when they’re told that they’ll be featuring on a samsung station song, naeun is beyond elated. she’s been following the samsung station releases closely -- who wouldn’t, really, after the stellar release of nara sunbae’s ‘rain’, it’s been the talk of the town. each new release seemed to bring even more and more eyes to samsung, and even better opportunities for its artists.
for naeun, she knew that luxe would be featured. it was never a matter of if, but of when they would do so.
it’s only been several hours since they recorded the song -- and although, naeun thinks, it’s not really luxe’s color, she likes the edm / techno vibe that they apply to the song. it’s a new sound and she hopes their olympias don’t mind it too much. not that luxe really has a defined character of concept -- although, naeun supposes that ‘sexy’ could be their choice of concept if goaded.
but the song is good -- the lyrics mean well and she knows the olympias would think so too.
it’s one of the days that she’s not filming on location for ‘the producers’ and one of the sole days she gets to spend with her members. unfortunately for her, most of it is filled with a camera crew following her around as they try to make their captures as candid as possible. following the luxe women around the royal building as they sing along to the song. the song plays in the background as naeun mouths the words as she walks, allowing the camera to follow her every move as if she was holding onto it herself.
she’s chosen one of the hallways of the building, loitered with people and employees as she dances around them ; pulling several of the more known workers of royal into the frame as she sings to them as well as the camera. her smile, blindingly bright, as she sings her lines. in the midst of singing, a worker comes around to bring her a bouquet -- whispered praise for her appearance on ‘the producers’ being the reason and she all but bows in the middle of shooting, accidentally, as she blushes profusely. it’s among the many candid shots -- somehow making use of the bouquet, now as she sings. at times, utilizing the flower arrangement as a mic -- especially when she sings the high note.
the song lyrics, itself, are ones she thinks pairs well with her heart -- and as she sings,
‘ your love brings magic ; fantasy has bloomed -- ’
On April 15th, you and two of your other members are pulled out of your comeback practice by your manager to be taken to a meeting room. If asked, he’ll confirm they aren’t in trouble, and that the details will be given soon enough.
Inside the meeting room are a couple of other people they might have already seen before or not walking around either the Sphere building or the Seocho complex. “Good morning,” one of them states. “We’re here in the name of Samsung Station. It’s a project I’m sure you’ve all heard about and have been following its releases. After all, every release so far has given us good feedback from the public. A lot of your seniors have had their songs in this project and we decided to reach out to you to feature in one of our future releases.”
Jinwook, Prhyme, and Sehun were chosen to take part in the release of ‘Q&A’ alongside an NPC senior artist, H.Lee. Jinwook will have Woozi’s lines, Prhyme will have S.Coups’s, and Sehun will have Vernon’s. They’ll receive the lyrics and audio file once the meeting is over. They are told to practice for this release alongside their comeback practices. They’ll get to meet up with H.Lee on April 18th to chat and practice the song together. The song will be recorded on April 25th.
They’ll also get to record a music video for the song. H.Lee won’t be present for the recording and they’ll act things out with the NPC actress Hong Hyuna. The MV will be filmed on May 4th in the middle of their promotion cycle. Their parts in the video will be distributed the same way as their lines were. The song will be officially released on May 22nd. On May 23rd, they’ll attend the live recording of ‘Live Station’ for the S-POP Channel.
They’re all told to keep their participation in the project a secret until the song teaser is officially released by Samsung
sehun's heart started racing double time the moment he was pulled away from practice with two of the older members. he wasn't exactly sure why they called him in for, but he's got a number of scenarios flooding his mind that revolved to a specific reason, and it felt like someone had dumped ice cold water on him. he was scared, his brain shutting down half way in his attempt to think of decent ways to defend himself and yuzu. the moment they were told that none of them were in trouble made sehun sigh inaudibly in relief.
he stays silent at the first chunk of their meeting, all strength leaving him from being freaked out earlier. but as the meeting progressed, with the plan and their instructions laid out for them, the excitement and happiness finally hits him. it'll mean extra time for practice and preparations on top of convex's comeback promotions, but he's happy for the opportunity and chance given to him. it's a nice reminder of how much he's improved since he first started training, and since he first stood on stage as a member of convex. it's a nice reminder of how good hardwork could pay off in the long run.
it feels surreal, specially when he remembers how he started with knowing absolutely nothing but dancing. but now he's improved a lot, at least enough to be able to do a collaboration with his members with and one of their seniors. it's amazing, and the thought only makes the excitement grow, one he desperately tries to keep in check to give a more professional front but he's only human. opportunities like this doesn't happen everyday and he just can't help but giggle like a starstruck kid (because he is). it's when they've finished the recording and hears his voice with his hyungs and h. lee dit it finally hit him, like a slap square in the face. this is real. he did good - is doing fine. convex is doing good and he's proud of them, proud of everyone's accomplishments.
they still have a lot left to do, and he's happy to say he's ready for it all. he's excited!
