My pediatrician will turn 90 this year. She hails from a family of brilliant minds and determined independence. The family included her niece who married my Mom’s brother. She is, at 87, a wise psychiatrist whose advices have been invaluable to me. In the next picture you’ll see my pediatrician’s older sister, who at 97 is still very alert and sharp. She’s my sister’s grandmother-in-law. Unfortunately she just suffered a fall, but that didn’t stop her from doing simple algebraic calculations (and fast!) The last dame is my father’s aunt, who at 94 still recalls my childhood vividly, and of late she has been dreaming of the former little ole me from decades ago. My visiting her today freaked her out because she’s been yearning to see me. These nonagenarians are, without a doubt, my inspirations. How can they not? #rmkspring2018 #rmksub201803 #strongwomen

You know what this means ✈️ Yep. Travel day. Leaving my beloved city of Tokyo to Surabaya, surprising my father, who had no idea that after I had left him last week for Tokyo, I’d be back again for 10 days with him. Indonesians are crazy when it comes to eating, and these friends of mine aren’t the exception. So here we were, posing at a restaurant before we ate lunch, but only after having the first lunch (wait for it...) next door! What?!?!? At the first restaurant, not knowing we’d have a second one right after it, I had two glasses of drinks and a bowlful of soupy Soto. And the second restaurant specialized in beef ball soup. I felt like an overflowing keg...
