Rare Male Slash Exchange!
Since I feel my rambling on how much I enjoyed writing and reading this exchange should be contained in a way that is very easy to block or ignore, here are some of my thoughts.
(The exchange is here, for anyone who wants to look at the awesome things people wrote.)
First of all, shoutout to tdc who ran an amazingly smooth exchange considering... one gift was still missing an hour before works going live, but thankfully everyone showed up! And i managed to tweak the last bits of my pinch hit before opening 😅
I got not one but two incredible stories:
A John Constantine/Bruce Wayne masterpiece (explicit, 6k) across multiple dimensions with very steamy ritual sex from the incomparable @iberiandoctor
Like a Restless Wind
And an Arranged Marriage original fic (mature, 16k!!) for the prompt Prince/Prince of Enemy Country by the spectacular @susiecarter with wonderful drama and the backsetting in vaguely byzantine Egypt with Airships and a lot of thirst 💦💦💦

And then I also wrote two stories:
My first foray into the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom (explicit, 7k), where an accident with time travel is the inciting incident for Dazai to fuck Chuuya while his future self is watching (and some added introspection for fun). I didn’t freak out about my characterisation midway through and had to get help from the lovely scribblemyname, what are you talking about, that definitely didn’t happen.
(This is also the rare fic where I knew exactly what I was doing, and it went smoothly in my first draft. It’s pretty much the original idea I had.)
Momentary Lapse in Time
And then I thought I could relax and chill on my finished assignment... but then I made the mistake at looking at the pinch hits... long story short:
A Harry Potter x Narnia crossover (teen, 5k), with Tom Riddle/Edmund Pevensie. Theey meet in a London pawnshop, both foraging for magical items and strike up a mutually beneficial relationship.
Strike the Bell and Bide the Danger
And because of symmetry, here’s two other fics I loved:
Sirius/Draco, mature, 3k, Weak and unstable, Sirius is confined to Grimmauld Place after surviving the veil. His first mission in a year: guarding newly-defected Draco Malfoy. —really great characterisation, so moody, and absolutely perfect enemy lovers dynamic
The Other Side
And then there was this Victorian Gentleman/Mysterious Stranger fic (explicit, 7k) about fucked-up relationships and grave robbing and it’s absolutely brilliant.
He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket. Something fell out of it and skittered across the floor.
“You…” Edward hesitated to ask. “You make a habit of carrying teeth in your pocket?”
John glanced down at the tooth lying there.“Worth a shilling, that,” he said. “Always got a couple about my person in case of need.”
Edward swallowed. John grinned and kissed him. Edward wondered how he could want a man who carried human teeth in his pocket like loose change.
