claire lets out a long-suffering sigh and literally PICKS him up and holds him close. "you're not fooling anybody, leon."

     “ I WASN’T TRYING to fool - ” He stops, and lets out a small chuckle. “ Yeah, I, well. It’s cold. Today. ” Good going, those are words strung together. He’s just going to give up on it and cuddle into her instead. “ You’re warm. ” He says it softly, fondly.

Leon's lips curve downward, before he bites at his lower lip as Claire tightens the bandage around his arm. " Easy for you to say - you didn't get bit by a dog ! " Maybe if he hadn't tried to calm the clear zombie dog down in hopes he could just convince it to be a nice dog, he wouldn't be in this position. Hardly his fault he finds it hard to fight against dogs - he's a hard dog person. " ...do I need to worry about a rabies shot or something ? " It occurs to him - before he starts laughing. It's ridiculous now he's worried about that with all the other shit happening. Puts it into perspective a little.

     “ LITTLE EASIER SAID than done. ” He shouldn’t complain, he knows that much, but it still hurts. Like a bitch, really. All this shit - and for what ? Everything is a damn whirlwind, it’s all fucked up, he’s fucked up - and right now he’s fucked up more than usual and all he focuses on is the pain.       It’s generally better than the alternatives. There’s not a lot of good things to think about these days anymore.       “ I know I’ll make it. But... it shouldn’t be like this. ”      So many things shouldn’t be like this.

     A SIGH PASSES him, as he’s doing what he can to patch her up. Running into her on a deployment - he wished she’d stay out of trouble. Not that she can’t handle herself; but he hates seeing those he cares about hurt.       “ Why do we always have to meet up in dangerous situations ? It’s never a friendly run-in at the coffee shop. ” Though with their careers ? It’s not likely. Not unless they make a date. A chuckle passes him. “ Not really the place you wanna meet up, out here. ” He tightens the gauze around her, hoping it will hold the bleeding.       “ You need to get out of here, Claire. This isn’t the place you want to be. ” Not with what I know of it. “ If I fail here; there’s no doubt they’ll cover this place in napalm. Last thing I need is to lose someone else - to lose you. ”
