      He couldn’t remember getting here. True, it looked like a forest. A relatively generic forest. The point still stood that Law didn’t remember coming here.

      He- should have been at a port, shouldn’t he? He was pretty sure that was the last place he was. It was to let the crew have some time to themselves off the ship. Right. So why was he in a forest?

      A generic forest.

      That fact was precisely why he was on edge. Nothing natural was so- perfect. And the only reason nature would be so silent was if something was wrong.       Therefore, something was definitely wrong.

      Even more so when he realized he didn’t have his weapon. True, he could manage hand-to-hand, but it didn’t mean he preferred it. His attention lowered, watched for the glow he’d become familiar with that indicated a room was ready to be deployed.       As far as he could tell, that seemed to be working.

      Still didn’t explain what was happening. Law scanned the area, started to walk through the eerily perfect forest. The one thing about the silence was that when something broke it, it was easy to locate where the cause of the sound was.        Another person. That was promising. Probably. He’d come across her once, at the very least. He knew that much. Ryōko? Something like that. Not that it helped much in easing his tension as he made his way around a bush to approach-

       Only for it to glitch.

       Any plans he had to properly announce his presence were forgotten, his focus now once again on the surroundings. Nothing. Not for a long moment. When the next glitch happened, it was the whole scene. Law stepped toward Ryōko- instinctive- if something was about to attack, being closer to someone who could watch your blind spots would help immensely. Somewhere- everywhere?- voices sounded, too far or too muffled to make out what was being said.

       The scene fell away, leaving some sort of cell in its wake. Shit. He didn’t need to look around to know Ryōko was in the room with him, the sound of someone else breathing and shifting around was enough. And the sound of chains rattling. Inconvenient.        What he did look around for was to get a better idea of where they were. Not like he could tell much past his initial it’s a cell. A small window high in the corner revealed a dark sky, littered with stars. Too many to be in some sort of city. This was going to be a problem. Especially when taking the whirring of machinery coming from seemingly everywhere, and the occasional deep rattle from somewhere further in the structure. “... You okay?”

yes i know noelle exists, in fact i gave that defense cup to her for a while but i never increased its level or anything because im focusing on other characters for a while...
