Scuffle in Infirmary
Casey was used to being the odd one out, growing up as Spock's half-sister. She had always felt more human than Vulcan, which had made her feel like an outsider among her own kind. But despite this, she had always been fascinated by the Vulcan way of life and had studied it extensively. This had led her to join Starfleet, where she had hoped to find her place in the universe.
Casey had been part of Captain Picard's crew for a few months now, and she was still getting used to the pace of life on the Enterprise.
Today, she was working in the infirmary, attending to the various injuries and illnesses that the crew members had picked up during their recent mission.
As she was checking the vitals of a crew member, Ro Laden walked into the infirmary. Ro was one of the ship's security officers, and she was known for being tough and no-nonsense.
"I'm not here to make friends," Ro said, making her way over to Casey.
Casey raised an eyebrow. "Is there something I can help you with?"
Ro hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I heard that you're Spock's half-sister."
Casey nodded. "That's correct."
"I don't trust Vulcans," Ro said bluntly. "But I figure if you're half-human, then maybe you're not all bad."
Casey couldn't help but smile at Ro's honesty. "Well, I'm glad to hear that you're willing to give me a chance."
Ro grunted in response before getting to the reason for her visit. "I came to get checked out. I got into a bit of a scuffle on the bridge earlier."
Casey nodded and began to run some scans. "It looks like you've got a few broken ribs. I'll need to set them for you."
Ro grimaced but didn't complain as Casey went to work. As she worked, Casey couldn't help but think about her own struggles with her identity. She had always felt like she didn't quite fit in, whether it was with the Vulcans or the humans. But being on the Enterprise had shown her that there were others like her, who didn't fit neatly into any one category.
Once she had finished setting Ro's ribs, Casey handed her a hypospray for the pain. "You should be good to go now. But I recommend taking it easy for a few days."
Ro nodded before turning to leave. "Thanks," she said, surprising Casey.
As Ro left the infirmary, Casey couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude. She had found acceptance on the Enterprise, even if it was from an unlikely source. And for the first time in a long time, she felt like she belonged.
As she cleaned up the equipment, Casey couldn't help but think about how her time travel experiences had led her to this moment.
She had seen things that no one else on the Enterprise could imagine, and it had given her a unique perspective on life.
But despite her experiences, Casey knew that she was just like everyone else on the Enterprise, trying to find her place in the universe. And for now, that place was in the infirmary, helping others and making connections, even if it was with someone like Ro Laden, who had initially seemed determined not to make friends.
As she finished cleaning up, Casey smiled to herself, knowing that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
