Freelancer Grif & Alternative Caboose backstory.

My headcanon is that Caboose was brought to life by an unauthorized Spartan experiment where the scientists took DNA samples of two Spartans II and created offspring to test if the Spartan Augmentations could be inherited traits.

Caboose ended up in the Spartan III experiment. And the scientist found that he took to augments fair better than the others and could also handle multiple AI more than others. However, his personality was ungovernable, so they decided to send him to the Moon, hoping he would get killed. Because of a computer error, Caboose wound up at Blood Gulch.

Grif is aware of all this information because he loves to snoop in confidential and encrypted files.

The Spartans involved were not told about this.

Michael 120 was not informed. ( It's possible that Caboose is somewhat related to Master Chief by this method, but I'm not sure about that headcanon.)

In the Diamonds in the rough ,au where iago goes in The Cave Of Wonders and gets trapped. Is stuck in his human form and meets Aladdin in that form. Tells Aladdin his name is Othello. Iago met and befriended the Genie, gets to watch the Friend Like Me song. Iago as Othello gets into the fact he's from Brazil,misses his mama and learns that Aladdin's mom died. Aladdin rescues him from the cave, but Jafar still betrays Aladdin. Jafar nearly blows his cover but a quick response clues Jafar in. When Aladdin comes back, he assumes Othello was killed by Jafar. But when Iago kidnaps the Genie, he has a moment of hesitation... When Jafar takes over ,it's a full moon. Iago is transformed into a white matching outfit to Jafar, and Aladdin learns that Othello and Iago ate the same person. ' I didn't lie. My name really is Othello. And I really do miss my maMa.' Iago is cut off by Jafar attacking Aladdin. Iago gets Aladdin to use his last wish,by accident and regrets it immediately. Genie ,now angry at Aladdin and Iago, can only grant Jafar's wishes. Aladdin manages to trick Jafar into making himself a Genie. But Iago gets a hold of the lamp. Jafar thinks they've won until Iago makes a wish that surprises people.

He wishes that Genie was free. Aladdin is shocked, but Genie says ' we had a feeling it was going to be you. ' He makes a wish to send jafar to the Cave Of Wonders and leaves the last wish un-wished so Jafar is his servant.

So you could go with this and say this is Caboose before he got the brain damage or Caboose is a 'stable' clone** of this Michael. or... Caboose is a AI dun dun formed from this Michael.

Michael also is listed as MISSING not Killed in Action.

** i know in Halo clone tech is unstable and used mostly for organ harvesting and creating AI, but... listen. Let me cook.

( Rp wise, my headcanon is that this is my Caboose's dad. )

When he shoots Sarge through the sniper rifle, he hits him in the head straight on. Killing him instantly.

The one time he's given control of the gun in Chorus, he hits and kills all marks instantly with scattered shots. He's just that good.

Caboose is perfectly still and Church can't hit him.

I... don't know if I ever brought this up but uhnnn.. that whole sub plot where Caboose is stupid and wash is stupid and takes the USB drive from Locus..and gives it to Caboose... because it's got THE DOG on it... and Caboose is just like ' OH FRECKLES IS SMALL NOW ' ...That whole thing is cut from Into the Chorus. ( he's coping with grief and shit... could the show give Caboose a break...? )

So the whole.. Wash v Locus thing doesn't happen either. I felt like it was not given enough weight in the canon story for it to stay in.

The whole interaction with Dr. Grey where she talks about putting an AI in charge of the trigger instead of Caboose is also cut... Because I don't like how dr. grey talks to Caboose. It's demeaning and infantizing and I hate it when people talk to me like that so I re-wrote that whole interaction.

In my head, Caboose is a sniper-level shooter who just has very sweaty palms. But he meant to shoot that guy when Washington came to get him. That was not an accident. I think those people mistreated him back in the nest.
