Jasper has like four separate costumes every year and all are basic clothes to somewhat resemble a popular character while showing skin. Think those videos where someone says ‘spongebob’ and it’s a yellow crop top and brown miniskirt. Maybe one ‘real’ costume that they bought from like spirit halloween lol.

August does something low effort like plastic vampire teeth and all black. Or a character that he has to put very little work into looking like, like Jack Frost lol

Icarus, assuming they’re in a body that can wear costumes, has one really good specific costume that they reuse every year and god forbid someone make a comment about it. They gather like one new accessory per year, why do you think it’s so detailed??

El does something historical that allows her to wear a flowy dress and lots of accessories. Pirate, princess, pilgrim, plague doctor….

T always does something that’s fairly obscure but puts a frankly crazy amount of effort into making it nice and real and thematic. Like, biblically accurate angel or anglerfish or venus fly trap.

I've never read it personally, but I'm pretty sure Choice of Robots has a robot RO! Obviously can't speak on how close it comes to Icarus though.

Similarly, I think Saturnine has android ROs, though they are a bit different, in that they have human bodies and the like, lol.

Otherwise, I'm crowdsourcing answers! Feel free to help out if you think you know an IF that fits!

still thinking about Icarus….always…forever….. I love that they’re kinda mean but I’m a like im scared of you and I’m scared of me way… and also how mc can run their hands along the groves of ics wings makes me INSANE like. The instinctive human-ness of it all, how ic doesn’t even know it’s happening, maybe doesn’t even know they have the wing grooves…

Icarus is holding it together as best as they can... never mind what those methods actually are. and ugh yes I love touch and how that interacts w/ their body, so many future plans for that...

I don’t think this has been asked before, but say, hypothetically, what would the ro's say if MC asked them "Would you love me if I was a worm?" (or a space cow 🤔)?

Omg I'm answering the space cow one because I think that's so funny lol (though 'would you love me if i was a horrible worm monster' gives it a run for its money)

Jasper: is normal about it. Yes, they love you space cow or not. They would spray paint you to keep you safe and identify you and visit you on their ship. If a predator gets you, though, that's a bit out of their paygrade...

August: May take a bit of prodding him, but yes. If you ask him to expand on that, he mutters something about how it wasn't so hard to love one before, so now that it's actually you there's little problem at all. You will be grand and glorious

Icarus: Coin toss if they'll ignore you or not. You'll have to delve past a few grouchy layers of, "love is simply chemical firings coagulating together" before they say that it makes little difference whether you are human or not to them, as long as you are you. Indirect, but it's something!

El: She seems a little too into it to be honest. Starts asking if you would let her live inside of you and do all requisite survival things and she would love to hear your heartbeat from the inside instead of muffled by your chest. Suffice it to say, yes (probably)

T: Your honor, they're avoiding the question. If pressed, they'll give a, I'll love you no matter what, and if pressed further, they'll admit okay, they don't really know what to do with the logistics of you being a giant space cow, but they love you now and isn't that what matters???

gosh I miss ic :(( I need to teach that robot how to love. And be really normal about it. (Genuinely though I’ve looked a lot for good robot/ai ROs in things and this is one of my favorites. It really feels like it’s written with a love for the genre. So excited to see where their path goes!)

Thank you, that is so so wonderful to hear! AI with maybe feelings is like one of my favorite tropes ever so i love hearing i’m doing it justice. Not an IF, but my first introduction to the trope and also like my favorite execution of it ever is AIDAN from the Illuminae Files book series, so if anyone is looking for recommendations…
