No need for gum nor respect for passengers smelling his breath, no honor for roadsigns whether mandatory or caution, no licence - just a rush to fill his empty pocket and send some money home after a hard days work as a Ghanaian public transport driver.
In 2010, I tried to help make road safe here with my advert but televisions channels wanted me to pay an arm and leg.
We call them "mates" here and woe unto passengers if your load or fare isn't balanced. Their uniformed body odour or popular insult trained tongues will make you desire to own your means of commuting.
This post is short with no thumbs up to Ghana Road Safety Commission and partner stakeholders. Police service personnel at Motor Transport and Traffic Unit are known to help mad and law violating drivers pay their way through it all. "1 Ghana for your pocket" !!!
Can I be mad forever or keep spending energy and hard earned cash to help make roads safe in Ghana? Can I do this without your help? Am I the only one who cares enough? Can my 699 words touch you and make you share this?
Truth is, I love to travel and its sad how private corporations are the major entities attempting to make roads safe as far as making signs and lighting are concerned.
I do this for all my deceased tourists, friends and african family members, road authorities don't appear to care about.
