Days 3 and 4 at Sourcing at Magic

Day 3:

Today we started Day 3 by walking the floor at MAGIC. We said hi to the emerging designers in the Launchpad, and met a fellow designer from Brooklyn!

My favorite part of the day though was chatting and interviewing with Maker’s Row!! We’re proud to make our pieces in America and had a lot to talk about.

There’s only one day left and still so much to do and see!

Day 4:

One of the best parts of the show has been the seminars. Yesterday at the end of the day I had a chance to sit through a panel of bloggers from around the world. Afterward I got to chat with three – one based in London, one from Nashville, and an Italian based in L.A.

Today I focused on more seminars and took a peek at the shoe show FN Platform – which is huge!!! Before everyone breaks down, I’m taking one last walk through at ENK and then MAGIC Week will be over! :-(

Day 2 at Sourcing at Magic

And here's the recap of Day 2!

Today I started off the day with a quick fashion show at the Tradegood runway.

After the show, I walked the “America’s” section on the SOURCING floor on my  way to the Fashion Snoops Fall 14/15 Trend Forecast. There were four main trend focuses: Folkloric, Rocker, Pro Sport and Boudoir – the last being my favorite and most applicable to Silk and Cyanide. My favorite part of all is the color trend reports –  I feel great knowing Silk and Cyanide is already ahead of the curve in the “jewel tone” color department!

After lunch I sat through the “Revival of Made in the USA” seminar which was inspiring. Go USA-made designers! Finally, I took the shuttle over to Mandalay Bay to quickly walk through Pool, ENK, and Project to check out a potential future booth spot. It was even bigger than I expected!

Day 1 at Sourcing at Magic

Today is Day 3, but I wanted to go back and highlight some of the aspects of my trip so far. Enjoy!

Day 1 of SOURCING at MAGIC has been a great intro to all the opportunities and excitement of the days to come. The day has flown by with so many highlights!

It was great to meet the other winners of the competition. We’ve already discussed our outlooks for the show and our business needs. We grabbed cronuts and a few of us got henna tattoos to celebrate the culture of India – the country highlighted this year by SOURCING at MAGIC.

Besides my new temporary art and taking it all in, looking at all the high tech industrial equipment (like the computerized fabric cutter below) was amazing! I could really use one in my studio.
