Hi okay so I follow a lot of horsey blogs and I've seen the problems people have with a type of bit called a Rollkur? And I was just wondering what they were because I used to ride and know like basic stuff but nothing too specific. And the whole googling it thing just didn't really explain it well. Thanks!

Rollkur is not a bit, but a type of headset. 

It is a hyperflexion of the neck that brings the chin to the chest making the horse behind the vertical. It is held anywhere from 2 to 5 to 10 mins at a time. Then the horse is relaxed for about 5 mins and then put into Rollkur once more. Often promoted as being a fix-all for suppling and stretching the horse’s neck it has also gained popularity as being able to raise and strengthen the back. People like to do it before they show to fatigue the neck so it looks like the horse is always on the bit and to disguise a horse who is otherwise not moving from behind at all times.

It however does NOT any of those things. It is highly dangerous for the horse. Can lead to microscopic muscle tears, and can actually lead to more inflexibility over time, muscle fatigue, long term muscle tension can also lead to bone spurs as well as bone degeneration due to the position of the neck vertebrae.

FEI has banned it, but they allow something called Long, Deep, and Round(LDR), and this is essentially Rollkur without the chin to the chest, it may not be held for longer than five minutes, however Rollkur still goes on, the stewards turn a blind eye or state that it's LDR.

Well, I had packed my pair of scissors already, and I was trying to use my knife to get a zip tie thing off a package.  It cut through too easy, and momentum carried it away from the package and into my computer screen.

I bought this computer from my college, so there's not going to be any Best Buy swooping in to save the day.

Luckily the cut isn't that bad, though.
