A/N: This is unbeta’d. All mistakes are my own. I have been experiencing some writers block and put out the bat signal yesterday. Thank you to all that send me gifs or ideas. This one was inspired by @dolphincliffs: Hmm how about this - your gone for the day, not expecting him home because of the latest convention, but because it was cancelled, he decided to drive home (cause no flights) and surprises you - brings a tropical feel to your place - crank up the heat, kids at relatives, got some good take out, cover all the windows with pics of a tropical location, brings in a massage therapist to give you an awesome pregnancy massage with awesome smelling coconut oils. I literally cannot resist the urge to write some Robelina, especially when it comes in as a request from this one!
This fits snuggly into my Robelina universe: Say It Like That
I was exhausted and sore everywhere. I don’t remember being this uncomfortable when I was pregnant with Olivia. I pulled into the garage, shut off the engine and shut the garage door. I leaned my head against the steering wheel and yawned. I just needed to get the groceries unpacked, then I could take a nice long bath and crawl into bed with some tea.
I hauled myself up and out of the car, which, to be honest, was a struggle these days. Carrying a few extra pounds and another human at thirty-six weeks is no easy feat. Especially when I can’t see my feet. I shuffled around to the back of the car, popped the trunk and grabbed one bag. I made it to the door and pushed it open. I dropped the sack on the island and took a deep breath. The house smelled heavenly. Thank goodness for the cleaning lady I hired to help me once a week. She must have plugged in that diffuser I always forgot to fill.
“Babe?” I froze dead in my tracks.
“Rob?” I turned and walked toward the sound of my husband’s voice. He was walking toward me and stopped as he reached the doorway to the kitchen. He was beautiful and god, did I miss him. “I thought there weren’t any flights out?”
“There weren’t. I drove. I needed to be here. I needed to be home,” he confessed, moving closer and pulling me into his arms. “Jason and I drove, then he hopped a flight home.”
God I missed him. I was so worried about him. He had been stranded in Seattle when they cancelled the convention and couldn’t get a flight out. I let him pull me as close as we could get and I broke down.
“Hey, baby, don’t cry. Shhhh, I’m home now,” Rob whispered into my hair.
“I’m so happy you’re home,” I cried, pulling back to look into those blue eyes I loved so much. “I missed you so much. Wait...I talked to you every day. Why didn’t you tell me you were driving?!”
“I didn’t want you to worry any more than you already were,” he said, pulling me back into his arms. “Now, can you do me a favor? Go upstairs to the bathroom. I laid out a robe for you. Get changed into that, then go wait for me in the bedroom?”
“Rob, there’s groceries in the trunk still,” I protested.
“Please? I’ll get them and put them away,” he promised. I made my way upstairs, the aroma from the diffuser getting stronger. I pulled off my clothes, leaving them in a pile for later and slipped into the robe. I tied it high above my belly and shuffled across the hall to our room.
Opening the door, the shades were pulled and the room was dim, lit only by a few candles here and there. Soft music was coming from the speaker on Rob’s dresser. Rob stood next to a massage table and, Sarah, my regular massage therapist. “Sarah? Rob, why is Sarah in our bedroom?” Pregnancy had turned my normally sharp brain to a mushy paste.
“Babe, I called Sarah and asked her to come here to give you a massage. I know you have been busy taking care of the house and Liv, and me, and won’t make your own appointment, so I convinced her to make a house call,” Rob explained. He turned to Sarah. “Take care of my girls.”
I enjoyed a quick catch up with Sarah as she helped me up onto the table and settle comfortably with my ever growing baby bump nestled safely in the cutout. With a wonderful mix of lavender, ylang-ylang, ginger, chamomile, and frankincense essential oils, Sarah had me completely relaxed, my muscles giving way under her expert touch. The sounds I made were unholy and I was slightly embarrassed, knowing Rob was usually the only one that could get me to make noises like that.
A soft knock sounded at the door and I heard Rob’s voice. “How’re you doing, Red?”
“Soooo good. I’m keeping her until the baby comes,” I mumbled, face down in the table.
“Well, good. I mean, not permanently, but she is coming twice a week for the next couple months,” Rob informed me. “Happy Valentine's Day, baby.”
After my massage with Sarah, Rob helped me into something comfortable and led me downstairs to the kitchen. The first floor of the house smelled like coconut and fresh fruit. Jimmy Buffett was playing and there were two mocktails complete with little umbrellas. The table was set with pasta and a spinach salad with fresh strawberries and candied pecans and a vinaigrette, all from our favorite restaurant.
“I was gone for like two hours. How long have you been home and how did you do all of this?” I was stunned as I took a seat in the chair he pulled out for me.
“I called your mom,” he replied, a little sheepishly. “She said she would get Olivia from school and take her in the morning. They got a room for tonight so she is can swim. I knew you had a doctor’s appointment today, too. How did it go?”
“Good. Baby is growing like a weed. My blood pressure is slightly elevated, but other than that, good. Just over a month to go,” I replied, digging into the heavenly, creamy pasta in front of me.
“I know it’s a day early, but I wanted us to have a date night just us. Then we can celebrate with Liv tomorrow. Happy Valentine’s Day, Red,” he leaned over and kissed me.
“Did you really schedule Sarah for twice a week?” I asked, sipping on the wonderfully fruity frozen concoction.
“Yes, Mondays and Thursdays until the baby comes, then you can set the schedule with her after that,” he replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
“That is a pretty extraordinary gift, Rob,” I eyed him from over the top of my bright blue umbrella.
“You’re a pretty extraordinary woman, Red. We’re starting a new journey together. Blending two families with this baby. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you or give you, if I can,” he professed.
“This baby is pretty lucky to have you for a daddy,” I smiled, though the hormones and emotions brought tears to my eyes.
“No, we’re the lucky ones,” he took my hand. “All of us are lucky to have you for a mama.”
Warnings: Disgusting amounts of heart melting, teeth rotting fluff;wedding fluff, lots of singing (Jensen singing), um, yeah, just the fluffly feels fluff. A couple of swears (Kim Rhodes is in it).

Catch up on Say It Like That
It wasn’t that the bed at the St. Paul Hotel was uncomfortable, but with everything on my mind, I had trouble sleeping. I rose easier than I wanted and stepped into a hot bath, hoping to get in a few moments of relaxation before Olivia and Ava woke. It was my wedding day. I was marrying Rob Benedict and was more than ready to start my future with him.
We had decided to spend the night apart; me and the girls in one room, he and Jacob in another down the hall. I was assured that the hotel staff would be moving us both, sans children, into our Honeymoon suite later that day during the wedding festivities. By the time I finished my bath, the girls were up and begging for breakfast.
With room service delivered, I still had plenty of time before I had to be ready. My hair and makeup team would arrive in about an hour to do the girls hair, then they were off to get ready, so that I could do the same. The knock came sooner than expected but I didn’t care. Nicole and Briana walked into the room carrying more bags and cases than humanly possible.
“I am so happy you’re here!” I told them. Nicole and I had been friends for years and I had gotten to know Briana through Rob and the Con circuit and we had quickly become friends. I couldn’t imagine two people more qualified to make me beautiful on my wedding day. I did not want someone who didn’t know me to help; It was a personal process and these two ladies knew what I did and did not like. I was lucky to call them my friends.
Friends and family. That was what the day was about. Rob and I promising our love to each other surrounded by the people that meant the most to us. It would be a small affair, well relatively small. With this group, it was never small and it was never boring.
Bri was just about done with my hair and Nicole was putting the finishing touches on my eyes before she started on my face, when Ana walked in with my dress.
“Oh can we see?” Nic and Bri asked at the same time.
“Not yet!” I chuckled. “Now finish making me beautiful, please.”
“There is nothing we could do to make you more beautiful, Ang,” Nic replied, hugging me. I really was lucky.
Soon enough they were done and I was ready to get dressed. Ana and I headed to the bedroom while the other two changed. She looked at me with a glint in her eye. “You ready for this?” I nodded, letting her get to work.
Ana opened the doors separating the bedroom from the rest of the suite and as I entered the main room, a hush fell over the room before the squealing started. Their voices blended together and I have no idea was what said, but I knew it was good.
A loud knock on the door interrupted us. Ana answered it to find Jared and Jensen on the other side. “Ladies, your chariot awaits.” Ana slipped her hand through Jared’s elbow while Jensen held his out for me.
“Rob is already on the boat so the coast is clear,” Jensen whispered in my ear as we walked toward the elevators. “You look stunning; he isn’t going to know what hit him.”
“Thanks, Jens,” I pecked him lightly on the cheek and we continued on our way. The cars were parked right outside the hotel entrance and we were on our way to the riverfront. I was in the lead car with Nicole and Briana when the landing came into view. I clutched tightly to Nicole’s arm.
“Hey, deep breaths. This is your dream, Ang. We got you,” she said reassuringly as the cars came to a stop. Jensen and Jared were both out of their car and opening our doors. Once all three of us were out, they ran ahead to make sure Rob was nowhere near the entrance so we could head to the bridal room.
The four of us walked onto the boat unseen by Rob and made it to the bridal room where my mom and dad were waiting with both Olivia and Ava. They looked beautiful in their matching dresses. “Mommy! Our dresses match yours!” Liv ran over to me the moment I entered the room.
“I love that we all match!” I told the girls. After exchanging a few words with my parents, they left us to finish getting ready. A quick check of the time said I would be meeting Rob at the top of the stairs in just twenty minutes.
Rob and I had decided that we would walk down the aisle as a family. Jacob would walk between the girls, holding their hands, while Rob and I would follow. It was not traditional and it took some convincing, but Rob understood once I explained it to him. It wasn’t just about he and I getting married or even our love for each other, it was the day we became a family, all five of us.
Once it was time, the girls and I gathered our flowers and headed to the top of the stairs where we would meet up with our boys and walk out onto the deck where our friends and family were waiting. My heart was beating fast and loud in my chest. I had my eyes closed the moment we stopped and I waited, my girls by my side, to start the rest of my life. I felt little hands tugging on my arms and then I heard him.
“Come here often?” I opened my eyes at the sound of his voice, warm and soothing.
“Hi,” was all I managed to get out. He looked so handsome, he and Jake, in their matching navy suits and custom boutonniere's.
“Okay, enough already. Let’s get this show on the road,” Jacob announced from behind his father.
“You look stunning, Red,” Rob whispered as he took my hand.
“You look pretty good yourself, handsome,” I smiled as we walked to the doors. I heard the music playing, but tried to stay focused on walking.
Jacob stopped and turned, looking at both me and his dad. “For the record, I didn’t really want another sister, but I am pretty happy you two are getting married. And Dad is right, Angie, you look really pretty.” His eyes cast downward and he toed at the floorboards.
I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around my future step-son. “Thank you, Jake. That means a lot.” He hugged me back and it was just what I needed. I stepped back in place next to Rob and took his hand, a tear in my eye.
Jake held out his hands to his two sisters and together, they opened the doors. The music hit me once we all walked through the doors. Billy Moran stood off to one side, with Briana by his side, as she sang Valentine. I gave them a smile and a wink as we continued.
Ahead of us stood the officiant. I had compromised with Rob on this part when he said it was important that someone we knew marry us. I let him choose and I wasn’t one bit surprised when we reached the altar. We all gathered around, Rob and I in the middle and our children off to one side. The music ended and the officiant addressed our guests.
“Friends and family, we are gathered here today to celebrate the lives and the love of two of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure to know. Rob and Angelina have not had a traditional or easy path, but that makes it all the more special,” Richard paused and looked at us and I could see the love in his eyes.
“You didn’t want a traditional ceremony, so here goes people,” everyone laughed along with us as Rich continued. “Angelina…”
“Rob, Because of you, I laugh, I smile, I dare to dream again. I look forward with great joy to spending the rest of my life with you, caring for you, nurturing you, being there for you in all life has in store for us, and I vow to be true and faithful for as long as we both shall live,” my voice shook as I spoke those words to him and placed my ring on his finger.
“Rob, you’re up Buddy,” Rich whispered.
“I am proud to marry you this day, Angelina. I promise to wipe away your tears with laughter and sooth your pain with caring and compassion. Together we will wipe clean the old canvases of our lives, and fill them with new color, harmony and beauty. I give myself to you completely, and I promise to love you always, from this day forward.” Rob’s voice wavered as well and he squeezed my hands in his as he slipped his ring onto my finger.
“Rob and Ang, you have something you want to say to your children?” Rich offered.
“Jake and Ava, I love you and I am devoted to making your lives full of happiness and accomplishments, nurturing your creativity, encouraging your independence, and making sure you always know what a gift you are to this world. I vow to love and respect you every day of my life,” I leaned down to kiss Ava’s cheek and slip a new necklace on her. I turned to Jake, sealing it with a handshake and a pocket watch. I turned to Rob and nodded. Rob crouched down to your daughter’s level and took her hand.
“Olivia, I love you and I am devoted to making your life full of happiness and accomplishments, ensuring that you thrive to your fullest potential, and that while you reach for the sky, you remain grounded by the love of our family and our home. I vow to love and respect you every day of my life,” Rob secured a necklace on Liv, matching the one on her new sister.
“And now, Jacob and Ava do you promise to love and respect your dad’s new wife? Do you promise to support their marriage and your new family? Do you promise to accept the responsibility of being their children, and to encourage them and support them in your new life together?” Rich asked Rob's children.
“We do,” Jake and Ava replied in unison.
“And Olivia, do you promise to love and respect your mom’s new husband? Do you promise to support their marriage and your new family? Do you promise to accept the responsibility of being their child, and to encourage them and support them in your new life together?” Rich repeated the question for my daughter.
“I do,” Olivia said, her voice strong as she answered Rich.
The five of us held hands and looked to Rich expectantly. “By the power vested in my by the internet and Chuck himself, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride,” Rich announced.
Rob leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to mine and I heard my heart sing with joy. When we parted, we wrapped our arms around all three children, sealing our union.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you for the first time ever, the Benedict Family!” our guests stood, cheering and clapping. Jason and Billy played us back down the aisle as the children ran ahead of us. All of our guests headed inside for cocktail hour while we posed with the children for some photos, the river providing the perfect scenery.
Soon we were able to join our guests before dinner. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Even as people congratulated us and hugged us, I couldn’t believe we were finally married. Ana approached from the side, waiting for the group to depart. She handed me a glass and Rob a cold Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Dinner was a simple affair catered by my favorite Italian restaurant, followed by toast after toast. Each time I turned around, Nicole or Ana had a fresh glass for me. We opted not to have anyone give speeches instead Rob and I addressed the crowd after the last toast. We stood in front of the stage facing our dearest friends and family, our hands linked together.
“We want to thank each and everyone that could be here with us today. This day would not have been the same without you all,” I told them.
“I second that. We are grateful to have each of you in our lives. Thank you. Now, I believe we have some music planned right?” he looked to me, his smile wide, making those crinkles pop at the corners of his gorgeous blue eyes.
“Because what is a wedding without music? Considering how we met, I think it is only fitting!” I turned to face the stage where the band had already set up. Jason acting as band leader gave me the signal they were ready.
“Hey everybody! For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Jason. I gotta be honest with y’all here, I really didn’t think this would last. Rob way out punted his coverage with this one! But seriously folks, I have known Rob for a long time and I have never seen him this happy. Rob spends several weekends a year planning shows, so we are doing a takeover and giving him the night off to celebrate with his beautiful bride. Please welcome Briana Buckmaster along with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Benedict!” Jason started playing as Bri took the stage. Rob set our mics down and pulled me out onto the dance floor.
At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
As Rob and I danced our way across the floor, I looked into his eyes. I saw so much love and admiration, I felt as if my heart would beat right out of my chest. We had chosen this song with such care. It wasn’t just the song as much as it was the person we had asked to sing it. Briana’s soulful voice brought such life to a song, no matter what she sang. I tucked my head under his chin and let him lead because he already knew I would follow him anywhere.
I found a dream I could speak to
A dream I can call my own,
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill I have never known
You smiled and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine at last
The music faded and everyone applauded Briana’s performance. I pulled back from Rob and picked up the microphone again. “Thank you Bri. We couldn’t have asked for a better gift. For all of you, we asked our very talented friends to sing a song that reminds them of us in lieu of gifts.”
“Because there is no greater gift than the gift of time, which they have given, along with their incredible talents. So loosen those ties, and lets get this party started!” Rob shouted, tossing his mic up to Jason.
The band played “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and everyone joined us on the dance floor. The children were having a blast. This was probably the best party I have ever been to, much less hosted. I caught Rob’s eye across the floor where he was dancing with Kim. I didn’t need to say anything, he already knew it.
Jason sat down, just him and his guitar, and did what he did best. I recognized the song immediately and I blew him a kiss. “Perfect Spot” was a song that I caught Rob humming one day and when he told me it was one of Jason’s I played it. He told me it reminded him of me and we danced right there in the kitchen that night. I grabbed his hand and led him back to the floor, where we joined by Ana and Jared, my parents, Rich and his wife and several more of our friends. I spotted Nicole on the far side dancing with a very smitten Gil McKinney. I lightly punched Rob in the shoulder to get his attention. We knew it wouldn’t take long. They were perfect for each other. We took our seats to catch our breath when Rich took the stage.
“Some of you might know I am from Nashville, none too far from where this man recorded his first album. So when these two crazy kids asked us to sing a song that reminded us of them, this is the first song that came to mind. If you know them, you’ll understand why. Rob, Ang...congrats,” Rich bowed, guitar and all.
I find it very very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day’s through
Yes I’ll admit I’m a fool for you
Because you’re mine, I walk the line
Rob held me in his arms as we faced the stage and Rich, swaying back and forth to the music.
You’ve got a way to keep me on your side
You’ve give me cause for love that I can’t hide
For you I know I’d even try to turn the tide,
Because you’re mine, I walk the line
Rich took his bow and announced Kim Rhodes to the stage. “When I first got this email, I didn’t know what the fuck I was going to sing! Oh shit, Ang, I’m sorry! Can I say ‘fuck’?” Everyone laughed along with us and I nodded. I craned my neck to see Rob with a fake scowl, one eyebrow raised and I nudged him in the ribs. We laughed with Kim and gestured for her to continue.
“Anywhoooo, I have known Rob for years and like Jason said, I have never seen him so happy. I love you guys!”
“You turn around then you ask behind tears of doubt
Just what I see in you
Please don’t cry,
I know sometimes it seems we barely get by
But you don’t see how much you do,
Oh to get me through
When the world is cold and I need a friend to hold
You give me love, you give me love, baby
When my hope is gone and I feel I can’t go on,
You pick me up, you give me love, you give me love, oh baby
I apologize if I never told you what you are in my eyes
Oh baby let me tell you now
Every day looks sweeter knowing you’ll be there in every way
Now how you can say that’s not enough
I stood on my tiptoes to whisper in Rob’s ear, “It’s like they raided our playlist.” I kissed his jaw with a chuckle and applauded Kim as she finished. We are the luckiest people on earth.
“Excuse me, can I have your attention please?” A young voice could be heard and Rob and I both turned. Jacob stood on stage with Jason, Ava and Olivia by his side.
“We have something we would like to give you,” Jake looked at each of us, the girls nodding and smiling excitedly next to him. Jason leaned over and whispered in his ear and he nodded.
There's a place in my heart
And it's there just for you
Inside your heart
Is where dreams can come true
Put your hand in mine
Take one step at a time
There's a place in my heart ... for you
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
Inside my heart
Tears filled my eyes, but I pulled Rob closer to the stage. Our children were up there singing a song for us on our wedding day. To know that they put in the time and practice to learn it made my heart swell more than I ever thought possible.
“Did you know about this?” I looked to Rob, tears running down my face.
“Maybe. Jake and Ava wanted to give you a gift but as soon as Liv heard about it, there was no way she wasn’t helping out. This is their gift to us. They rehearsed before you got here today,” Rob whispered in my ear. I turned back to the kids as they finished.
There's a place in our house
And it's there just for you
Inside our house
There's a room with a view
Just knock on the door
I'll be there for sure
There's a place in our house ... for you
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
Inside my heart
Inside my mind
Inside my body, you will find
Strength and love and happiness
You'll find a way to be your best
Be your best
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
There's a place for you
Always and forever (Always and forever)
Inside my heart
Inside my heart
When they were done and took their bows, Liv giving the cutest little curtsy in her big girl dress, I ran over to them, wrapping them all in my arms.
“Thank you for your gift,” I choked out best I could. I was so overwhelmed with their thoughtfulness.
“Don’t cry, Angie,” Jake told me.
“They are happy tears Jake. I promise. I love you guys so much. This is the best gift I’ve ever gotten,” I chuckled as I wiped away my tears.
“Did we do good?” Liv looked up at Rob, her blue eyes bright and shiny.
“Yeah, kid. Ya did real good,” he crouched down to hug both girls, then landed a hand on Jake’s back. “Thank you, we loved it.”
Marti, the wedding planner, discreetly pulled me and Rob aside, informing us it was time to cut the cake. With the children and the photographer gathered round, Rob and I cut into our very small cake. After so many tastings, we opted for a dessert bar, instead of traditional cake. But Marti insisted there had to at least a small cake for cutting. Some clever guest had even brought some Supernatural cupcakes.
“I vow to love you forever and ever, Mrs. Benedict,” Rob whispered, running his thumb along my lip to clean off the icing.
“And I will love you for the rest of my days and beyond, Mr. Benedict,” I echoed his sentiment. We milled around as our guests marveled over the cute array of sweets.
Jensen took the stage a few moments later. “So I think we all got the same email about singing a song for the happy couple, is that right?” Jensen looked to me and Rob, then Jason for confirmation. “Well, I am all for the traditional love song y’all, but that just ain’t my style tonight. We’ve been there with Rob through ups and downs and we have watched these two battle against forces that would tear lesser couple’s apart. But every now and then, you need a song to remind you someone will be there; someone has your back. We’ll always have your back, guys.”
Jensen sang with soul, I knew that from experience. I took my seat and listened intently as he sang.
You only need a roof when it’s raining,
You only need a fire when it’s cold,
You only need a drink when the whiskey
is the only thing that you have let to hold
Sun comes up and goes back down
Falling feels like flying till you hit the ground
Say the word and I’ll be there for you
Baby, I will be your parachute…
If you think you’re going down
Just know I will be around…
No sooner had Jensen finished the last note of the song when I rushed up to the stage and threw my arms around him. Jensen was there when I was down and needed someone. He was there and had not only my back, but Rob’s. He hugged me back just as tightly, before kissing the top of my head. “I’ll always be your parachute, Ang.” Jensen and I walked off stage hand in hand, bumping into Ash on the dance floor.
“Hey Jense, I want you to meet someone. This is my friend Ash. Ash, meet Jensen. I gotta find my husband,” I left them as I went to rejoin Rob, but I didn’t go far enough that I missed the conversation.
“Have we met before?” Jensen shook her hand lightly, her face lit up like it was Christmas.
“A time or two, but not long enough that would have remembered me,” Ash looked down at her hands, clutched in front her.
“No way I would forget a pretty redhead. Seattle, right?” he gave her that signature smile complete with the eye crinkles. I turned back to Rob.
“My work here is done,” I pulled him down and kissed him.
“Playing matchmaker again?” he grinned.
“Not at all. I just want my friends to be friends is all,” I giggled.
Nicole came and stood with us, her arm wrapped around my waist as we watched Gil and Briana take the stage. “Sooooo, Gil said he was singing,” she nudged me.
“Of course he is. But my question would be..is it for us, or for you, Missy?” I winked at her and hugged her a little tighter.
“So Gil and I decided to try our hands at a duet for you tonight. I’ve always loved this song and I think it is very fitting for our friends,” Briana took a seat and the music started. Tears welled in my eyes immediately. I turned to Nicole, who just nodded and smiled knowingly at us.
“Did you know they were singing this?” I asked.
“He may have told me…” she smirked and turned back to the stage. I glanced back up and saw him wink.
It’s not your eyes
It’s not what you say
It’s not your laughter that gives you away
You’re just lonely
You’ve been lonely, too long
All your actin’
Your thin disguise
All your perfectly delivered lies
They don’t fool me
You’ve been lonely, too long
Let me in the wall, you’ve built around
And we can light a match and burn it down
Let me hold your hand and dance ‘round and 'round the flame
In front of us
Dust to
You’ve held your head up
You’ve fought the fight
You bear the scars
You’ve done your time
Listen to me
You’ve been lonely, too long
Let me in the wall, you’ve built around
And we can light a match and burn them down
And let me hold your hand and dance 'round and 'round the flames
In front of us
Dust to dust
You’re like a mirror, reflecting me
Takes one to know one, so take it from me
You’ve been lonely
You’ve been lonely, too long
We’ve been lonely
We’ve been lonely, too long
The first time I heard that song after Rob and I got together was with Nicole. She brought it up and told me ‘One day, this will play at your wedding’ and she was right. The song was already powerful, but after that moment, it held so much more meaning. Rob placed a soft kiss to my cheek, promising to be right back. I nodded, then held my friend a little tighter.
Minutes passed, but Rob had not returned. I looked around the crowd and spotted so many happy faces of our friends and family. Briana and Kim stopped by to chat with Nicole and me, and that is when I heard it.
“Would Mrs. Benedict please report to the dance floor?” I heard the smile in his voice as he said it and I laughed. Kim and Bri both take my hands and walked me to the floor where Rich is waiting, a chair placed right in front of the stage.
Rob is standing center stage with with his guitar when his eyes met mine. “I travel a lot for work, like A LOT. When I first realized how in love I was with this spitfire, I knew I couldn’t live without her. I tried, Chuck knows I tried, but I needed to be with her. She’s my home…”
When you look into my eyes
And you see the crazy gypsy in my soul
It always comes as a surprise,
When I feel my withered roots begin to grow
Well I never had a place that I could call my very own
But that’s alright my love, cause you’re my home
When you touch my weary head
And you tell me everything will be alright
You say, use my body for your bed
And my love will keep you warm throughout the night
Well, I’ll never be a stranger and I’ll never be alone
Wherever we’re together, that’s my home
Tears filled my eyes as I watched my husband. The song spoke to our relationship more than anyone would ever know. I had no idea Rob had planned to serenade me on our wedding day and the song could not have been more fitting.
Home can be the Pennsylvania turnpike,
Indiana’s early morning dew
High up in the hills of California
Home is just another word for you
Well I never had a place that I could call my very own,
But that’s alright my love, cause you’re my home
Through my blurred vision, I stood on shaky legs and made my way to the edge of the stage to meet his eyes, cobalt and sparkling with his own tears.
If I travel all my life and I never get to stop and settle down,
Long as I have you by side,
There’s a roof above and good walls all around
You’re my castle, you’re my cabin and my instant pleasure dome
I need you in my house cause you’re my home
You’re my home
You’re my home
Rob stood, handing his guitar off to Jason, and jumped off the stage in my arms. “You’ll always be my home. I love you.”
“I’ll always be here.” I heard the music pick up and threw my head back in laughter. Jason and Billy lead the band through a rendition of Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” and everyone got up to dance around us. Rob held me as we swayed slightly to the music, still lost in our little world.
~*~
The cool breeze off the water felt refreshing on my flushed skin. I leaned against the railing, looking over the edge to water below. A familiar scent washed over me and I leaned into my husband when I felt him press his chest against my back.
“I was looking for you,” he whispered in my ear.
“I just needed a breather. It’s getting a little warm in there,” I sighed deeply, breathing him in once more. “But it’s nice having you here, in the quiet with me.”
“I can’t always promise it will be quiet, but I can promise I will always be here,” Rob vowed.
“Hey lovebirds,” Nicole cooed, joining us. Jen, right behind her.
“I’ll give you guys a few minutes. See you back in there, okay?” he turned to leave. “Take care of my wife, girls.”
“How are you doing, Boo?” she asked.
“Just needed some fresh air,” I smiled and turned to her.
“That’s all? Come on, truth…” she held up her pinky finger and linked it with mine.
“Excited, nervous, terrified…” I confessed, breathing out before taking another deep one in an attempt to calm myself.
“He loves you more than anything. It will all work out, I just know it,” I wrapped my arms around the two of them, happy to have my girls with me on a perfect day.
“I have never seen a couple more in love than the two of you, Ang,” Jen piped up.
“I know. Thank you, both of you, for everything,” I pulled back, looking at Nicole. “Soooo, you and Gil, huh?”
“I didn’t want to say anything just yet, but yeah,” she blushed in the sparking fairy lights overhead. “By the way, I overheard your mom and dad talking; they want to know who this Chuck guy is.” We all burst into a fit of giggles.
“I’m happy for you, Boo. Now let’s get back my party; rumor has it some hot guy is going to sing for us!” I pulled them back inside. We made it just in time to see Gil take the stage and the music start playing Maroon 5’s “Sugar.”
With Rob back by my side, I couldn’t help but steal a glance at my friend now and then. She was dancing and the smile on her face said all I needed to know. I leaned into my husband and we enjoyed the performance.
...My broken pieces
You pick them up
Don't leave me hanging, hanging
Come give me some
When I'm without ya
I'm so insecure
You are the one thing
The one thing, I'm living for
I don't wanna be needing your love
I just wanna be deep in your love
And it's killing me when you're away
Ooh, baby,
'Cause I really don't care where you are
I just wanna be there where you are
And I gotta get one little taste
Your sugar
Yes, please
Won't you come and put it down on me
I'm right here, 'cause I need
Little love and little sympathy
Yeah you show me good loving
Make it alright
Need a little sweetness in my life
Your sugar (your sugar)
Yes, please (yes, please)
“You’re all the sugar I need, Red,” Rob whispered in my ear.
“Oh, you’ll get your sugar, Sugar. Just you wait,” I laughed and kissed his lips just as the song finished. I was having the time of my life and didn’t care how long the party lasted. I heard a familiar voice through the speakers. My eyes got wide and I turned to Rob.
“I thought she couldn’t make it!” I said excitedly.
“I didn’t even know she was here,” Rob looked toward the stage and a moment later, Lisa Berry walked on.
“So I wasn’t supposed to be here tonight, but I didn’t want to miss this for the world. Surprise!” she told us. “I picked this one just for you, Mama!”
Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord it made me feel so tired…
I looked around her to see Kim, Briana, Ruth, Emily and Ana singing back-up and my heart sang a little more. I squeezed Rob’s hand a little tighter and pulled him closer to dance with me.
Before the day I met you life was so unkind
You’re the key to my piece of mind
Cause you make me feel
you make me feel
you make me feel
Like a natural woman (woman)
When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn’t know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
Now I’m no longer doubtful
Of what I’m living for
And if I make you happy, I don’t need to do more
Cause you make me feel
you make me feel
you make me feel
Like a natural woman (woman)
Oh baby, whatchya done to me (whatchya done to me)
You make me feel so good inside (so good inside)
And I just wanna be (wanna be)
Close to you, you make feel so alive
Lisa closed out her song, all six ladies taking a bow and ran off stage. I caught her in a hug before she could disappear. “I am so happy! How did we not know you were here?!”
“I wanted it to be a surprise,” she said, that bright smile spreading across her face.
Rob stepped in. “Best surprise ever! Thank you for being here with us to celebrate.”
She hugged us both one more time before Kim pulled her away, leaving Rob and staring after her. “Did you know?” We both asked at the same time, chuckling at our friends planning behind our backs.
“Mama?” I felt a tug at my dress and looked down to see my little girl rubbing her eyes.
“Hey, Livvy. You tired, Baby?” I picked her up, her legs wrapping instinctively around my middle, she nodded, tucking her head into the crook of my neck. I looked to Rob, who reached for her and she slid into his arms seamlessly, mimicking the same posture once secured to him. We walked together to where Jake had his head down on the table, Ava next to him, her head resting on his shoulder.
They looked so peaceful, that we didn’t want to disturb them. Rob’s brother Matt was right there to take Olivia. “I’ve got them. You guys go, enjoy your party.”
“We’ll be docking soon,” Rob checked his watch before passing Liv off to his brother as well. Matt shooed us away for the last hour of our wedding reception.
“Ummm, has anyone seen the bride and groom?” We heard Jason ask.
“I guess that’s our queue,” I shrugged, giving Matt a hug and dragging my husband back out onto the dance floor.
“You called, Mr. Manns?” Rob asked into the microphone.
“Yes, just have a damn seat. I got a pretty little lady here that wants to sing something for you guys,” Jason pointed out.
Ruth Connell joined him on stage, throwing me a wink and Rob a kiss. She and Jason performed “Lucky.” We danced along with our friends as they sang for us.
“Well, I’ve got one more song to perform for you fine folks tonight. Like I said earlier, you ain’t getting a traditional love song from me. Some of you may know that the guy I play on television, Dean, is a fan of classic rock,” Jensen told the audience as the music started. “And Bon Jovi rocks...on occasion.”
Your love is like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need, whoa
Shake it up just like bad medicine
There ain't no doctor that can cure my disease
Bad medicine
I ain't got a fever, got a permanent disease
And it'll take more than a doctor to prescribe a remedy
I got lots of money but it isn't what I need
Gonna take more than a shot to get this poison out of me
And I got all the symptoms count 'em 1, 2,3
First you need, then you bleed, and when you're on your knees
(That's what you get for falling in love
You get a little but it's never enough
That what you get for falling in love)
Now, this boy's addicted 'cause your kiss is the drug, whoa
Jensen sure did know how to put on a show and work the crowd. People were dancing and having a great time with him on stage. Rob and I laughed when he jumped off the stage to finish off his song selection.
We were blessed with a few more performances before the boat docked, signaling the end of a perfect day.
“Hey folks, I’ve been told we’ve got one more song for you tonight. Can I get all our performers up here one last time?” Jason called out. Rob and I watched as Rich, Jensen, Bri, Gil, Emily, Lisa and Kim all joined him onstage with the band.
“This is the first song Rob sang for his bride and the one he used to propose to her. We hope you always find the love you always knew you deserved with each other. Congratulations friends,” Jason turned and nodded to the group.
I’ve seen it come and I’ve watched it go
The ins and outs and the highs and lows
Well I gave my heart and I paid the cost
For the loves I made there were friends I lost
At the point I’d almost had enough
Like the morning sun you woke me up
You held me close and you help me see
Oh you made a believer out of me
Now I’m alright, I’ve got you in my life
And I never felt love, ever feel so right
It’s a miracle and a mystery
How the hands of fate brought you to me
I had lost all hope, had lost all faith
With each kiss you loved my fear away
Now I’m alright, I got you in my life
And I never felt love ever feel so right
Well it’s good to feel and for once I know
That I’ll never have to worry about you letting go
No matter where this road may lead
As long as I’ve got you with me
I’ll be alright, I’ve got you in my life now I’m alright
And I’ve never felt ever love feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
Just as the song finished, the boat slowed, pulling into the landing. I grabbed Rob’s hand and pulled him in closer. “I love you Robby.”
“I love you, Ang. More than anything. Thank you for planning this perfect day for us, for our family,” his hands cupped my cheeks and he kissed me deeply. The first real kiss we have shared as husband and wife. The lights came on, breaking the moment, but there would be plenty more.
“Angelina, all your bags have been packed and will be taken to your car. It has been a pleasure planning this day for you. I wish you both the best of luck,” Marti, the wedding planner, hugged me, then was gone with a slight wave.
Rob and I stood at the loading platform as our guests departed. We hugged, laughed, kissed and shook hands with everyone. Matt stepped up with one sleeping child in his arms and another at his side.
“Congratulations, kids. Have fun. I’ll make sure they both make it on the plane tomorrow. Love you,” Matt bent to kiss my cheek and shake his brother’s hand. We kissed each of Rob’s children and waved them off.
My brother was right behind them, my daughter asleep in his arms too. I kissed her pink cheek. “Thank you.”
“Have fun and don’t make any more babies! This one is getting too heavy,” my brother joked. I kissed my sister-in-law and then my parents, promising to check in in a few days. Soon, we were the last ones left on the boat, besides the staff.
Rob held out his elbow for me,” Shall we, Mrs. Benedict?”
“We shall, Mr. Benedict,” I answered my husband and together we walked to the car waiting for us and the rest of our lives together.

Say It Like That
Rob held out his hand and helped me into the waiting limousine. He slipped in beside me, holding me close to him. The two of us shared sweet kisses and held hands all the way back to The Saint Paul Hotel. After he helped me from the vehicle, I didn’t let go of his hand all the way through the hotel and into the elevator. Once the doors closed, he wrapped his arms around me, burying his face in the crook of my neck and breathing deeply. “I can’t believe we are finally married.”
“It is like a dream come true, but this is better. I’ve never had a dream this good,” I whispered back, the only other noises in the small space was the quiet whirring of the elevator as it rose and my own breathing.
Rob opened the door to our suite with a soft click of the key card and turned to look at me. I paused, hoping he wasn’t going to do what I thought he was. “Rob...no” I giggled in the empty hallway.
“Oh yes! You are my wife and it is tradition!” he took a step toward me and swept me into his arms.
“Baby, don’t hurt yourself before the fun begins!” I laughed as he carried me into the room, setting me down just inside the foyer.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered in the dimly lit room.
I only smiled at him over my shoulder as I sauntered toward the luxurious bathroom. “You have to say that now that we’re married.”
I stood at stared at my reflection in the mirror, trying to compose myself. This wouldn’t be the first time we had had sex, but it would be the first time we had sex as husband and wife. I knew I shouldn’t be nervous, but it was more than just the butterflies threatening to burst out of me. Shaking the thoughts from my head, I dropped my dress and carefully placed it back on the hanger. It took more time than it should for me to change, as my fingers would not cooperate. I took a deep breath and opened the door. “Here goes nothing.”
I walked out of the bathroom of our suite to see Rob sitting on the bed, a box of condoms next to him. He looked up at me, his cerulean orbs taking in my form draped in silver satin and lace, the baby doll nightie tied with a little bow between my breasts. “You look so breathtaking, I can’t believe you’re mine.”
“I am all yours, just like you are all mine. Tonight is just the first night of the rest of our lives, Babe,” I slinked over to him, swinging my hips a little more than normal. “Ummm, what’s with the condoms?”
“Ang, sit down, there is something I need to tell you,” Rob pulled gently on my hand to sit next to him on the bed.
“Rob…” I drew his name out.
“At my physical, the doctor found something, something pretty big,” he started. My hand flew to my mouth. I didn’t know what to think. Was it only what I already knew, or was there something more that he has been hiding from me? We were married today, I couldn’t lose him. He had already been through so much with his stroke and the recovery. Oh God, did something happen with all the progress he made? Did something else go wrong? I couldn’t control the thoughts that ran through my head.
“Just tell me, so we can face it head on and deal with it,” my voice was shaking and I started wringing my hands in my lap, but Rob held them tight, bringing them to his lips.
“I am not dying, at least not from this. But you in this outfit, on the other hand, just might put me in an early grave,” he laughed, running the tip of his finger along the neckline of the lingerie.
“Not so fast, Mr. Benedict. You need to tell me what the hell is going on with you and why aren’t you freaked out. I don’t even know and I am freaked out!”
“It’s not a bad thing, well, I guess it depends on how you look at it. The doctor discovered that I have an extra nut, basically. So when I had my vasectomy, it didn’t quite take and I’m not shooting blanks,” he closed his mouth and looked at me, waiting for my response.
“I guess I’m not surprised; I’ve heard that can happen. It happened to my aunt and uncle,” I shrugged. “We’ve been lucky so far. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we had a baby, right?”
“You wanna have another baby?”
“Look, I thought I was done, but then I met you and you are such an amazing dad, and how you are with Olivia...I wasn’t completely honest with you; I was a little sad when I found out you had a vasectomy,” I looked into his eyes and saw them wet with unshed tears.
“We have plenty of time to talk about this later. I wanna make love to my wife,” Rob leaned in to kiss me, but I backed away, up the bed. I propped myself against the headboard and wiggled a finger at him.
“Why don’t you come open your wedding gift, Mr. Benedict,” I suggested.
“I think I will, Mrs. Benedict,” he growled as he slowly crawled toward me. As he approached, he reached out with one hand and undid the bow keeping me concealed from him. The satin ribbon fell from between my breasts and revealed nothing underneath. His eyes raked over my soft skin.
“Like what you see?” I teased and he nodded, licking his lips. “Open the rest.”
He straddled my hips and with practiced fingertips, he gently pushed away the offending fabric, his eyes trailing over the skin as he revealed it. When he reached the bottom of the nightie, he stopped and looked up, his eyes meeting mine.
“Are you serious?” he asked and you only nodded, nervous about his reaction. “Who did this?”
“Ana, before the wedding. Rob, say something,” I pleaded.
“We’re having a baby?”
“Yeah, we are,” I smiled up at him.
I was nervous. He didn’t say anything. He just scooted farther down the bed, his face hovering over the barely there bump. ”Rob?”
Still, no words. I could feel his fingers tracing over the words Ana had written there. You didn’t even ask what she had written in the waterproof makeup pencil. “What does it say?”
He laughed, before kissing my stomach. “It says future rock god on board.”
We both started laughing then. It was the perfect way to tell my rock god he was going to be a dad again, even if it came as a surprise to both of us. “Wait...you were drinking tonight…”
“No, I never had a drop. Ana was feeding me sparkling juice or water all night,” I reassured him, kissing him soundly and moved to straddle his hips. “Make love to me, Robby.” He didn’t need to be told twice.
The two of us lay in a tangle of limbs and soft cotton. Rob was trailing his fingers over my skin, stopping every few passes to rest on the slight swell of my stomach. “How long have you known? Why didn’t you say something?”
“I found out about six weeks ago. There wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t bursting to tell you. I wanted to surprise you and this was the best idea I came up with. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
“I’m glad you waited. I can’t tell you what has been going through my mind for the last few weeks since the appointment and I know in my irrational state, I probably would have said something stupid that I couldn’t take back. I love you and I will love you and our children for the rest of my life.”
Tears fell from my eyes as he kissed my stomach. I never imagined I could be this happy.
“How are we gonna tell the kids?” he asked.
“We have two weeks to figure it out. The only Ana and Nicole know, so we have some time.”
“How much time?”
“I am about ten weeks. The baby is due St. Patrick’s Day.”
“Plenty of time. Let’s enjoy our honeymoon first. I love you wife.”
“I love you husband.”

This is not beta’d and all mistakes are mine. This is a work of fiction, y’all, and should be regarded as such; no disrespect is intended toward Rob or his family.
This is part of my Say It Like That Series, but can be read as a stand alone.
“Honey, I’m home!” Rob’s voice rang out through the house late Sunday. I had used the free time I had to clean up the mess the kids had made, prepare a light supper and finally relax in our giant bathtub that Rob had special ordered for me. All in all in had been a great day, but damn, did I miss him.
He had a convention and had been gone since Thursday. The kids and I had a great weekend but it was still nice having him home with us. Unfortunately, he was leaving again to head back to Los Angeles for a couple days for some studio work with the band. I was heading back to work, too. But in a couple weeks, we had some time off and planned a small vacation getaway with the kids up north.
“Up here, Babe!” I answered as I wrapped the towel around me. Rob entered our bedroom a moment later, just in time to see me drop the towel and slip on one of his shirts.
“Damn, do my clothes look good on you woman!” he enveloped me in a hug. “God, I missed you.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, breathing in his scent, feeling calm and happy to have him back in my arms for even a few hours. “I missed you, too.” We stayed wrapped around each other for a few more minutes, just holding on.
“The kids in bed already? It’s a little too quiet,” Rob observed, shredding his clothes to hop in the shower.
“No, I took them to my mother’s earlier. They can fish and swim all week while you’re in the studio and I am back at work,” I answered as I finished dressing. I followed him into the bathroom and sat on the counter while he showered.
“So we have the house to ourselves for the first time in how many weeks and I am leaving? I am a horrible fiance,” he grumbled.
“Babe, we’re a busy family. With work and the kids, your two full time jobs, plus conventions,” I reminded him.
“But that doesn’t mean I have to like it all the time. Why don’t you come with me this week?” he inquired, his head popping out of the glass door.
“I wish I could, but we both know I can’t,” I wanted to so badly, but I still needed my job.
“I know,” Rob finished his shower and dressed. We walked hand in hand to the kitchen. I removed the warming pasta from the oven with a bottle of our favorite Pinot Grigio and we headed into the family room.
“What’s this?” he asked as I joined him on the sofa.
“This is grilled basil chicken, on a bed of linguine, tossed with some tomatoes, lemon, fresh parm and a drizzle of balsamic. You like it?” I smiled, knowing Rob loved anything I cooked.
“Yes, but not as much as I love you,” he leaned over, pressing a passionate kiss to my lips.
“Okay, Romeo, let’s eat before it gets cold. Then we can cuddle and have movie night,” I laughed. We ate while he told me about the weekend and everyone’s antics. I miss going to more conventions, but such is the life with a full time job and family commitments.
We cleared the dishes and snuggled up on a next of pillows, blankets and each other. Rob turned on a movie and we watched in silence for a while. Movie nights were my favorite with him; it was quiet and even if we didn’t watch, as long as we were together, it didn’t matter.
Rob broke the silence and whispered in my ear. “You could always quit your job, you know. Come with me. You and Olivia could travel with me on her breaks and we won’t have to spend as much time apart.”
I looked up at him, surprised. We hadn’t really talked about it before and I wasn’t sure how I felt. I’ve had a job since I was fourteen years old. “Shhh it’s movie night. But I promise I’ll think about it.” He pulled me tighter to him and I sighed contentedly, just happy to be in his arms again.

Summary: Angelina and Rob’s wedding is quickly approaching, but Ang is missing something...maybe

Written for: Me. This entire series is part of my self-care and pampering. Also as a small tribute to @iwantthedean, who is usually my voice of reason, whether she wants to be or not. Beta’d by @pinknerdpanda, my beautiful sweet panda.
You were six weeks from your wedding date. The invitations had been mailed. The flowers and centerpieces had been ordered. You had confirmed with the caterer and the baker. You had meet with the charter company and everything was arranged. You smiled to yourself as you crossed each item off your to-do list. The last thing was a call to your wedding planner, just to double check some things you wanted added and to ensure she could make the necessary arrangements. Then you would sit back and wait for Rob to get home, then pick up Olivia from day camp.
“I know Penny, but this is really important to me. Can you at least try? It’s a surprise for Rob...please?” you pleaded with your wedding planner. You glanced down at your desk calendar counting out the weeks until you needed an answer. Something caught your eye, but you ignored it.
“I’ll see what I can do, but it is probably going to cost you, Ang,” Penny sighed on the other end of the phone.
“I know, but it will be completely worth it to see the look on his face. Thank you so much Pen...Okay...talk to you soon,” you hung up the phone and double checked your calendar. “That can’t be right…”
Counting it out once more, you started to freak out a little. Okay, you were freaking out a lot. This was definitely not part of the wedding planning. On instinct, you picked up the phone and dialed. And waited. Finally she picked up.
“Nic! I don’t know what to do and I am freaking out!” you practically screamed into the phone.
“Whoa, Ang...calm down and tell me what’s wrong,” Nicole responded calmly. How did she do that?
You took a deep breath, counting to five, then let it loudly. “I think I’m pregnant!”
“I thought Rob had a vasectomy?” she said, but it came out as more of a question.
“He did! He is going to think I cheated on him! How can this even happen? I thought those were a sure thing nowadays? You’re the medical professional, you tell me...how did this happen?” you were shouting again.
“Well, Boo, when two people love each oth-”
“Bitch, you shut your face. I know how...but how?” You were starting to sound whiny.
“I don’t know how common it is, but we admitted a woman into the emergency room one night. She and her husband had been in a car accident after she told him she was pregnant, three years after he had gotten fixed. He accused her of cheating, but she swore it was his. This went on for hours until I finally convinced him we needed to do a thorough exam because of the accident. I had the physician request an ultrasound and sure as shit, the guy had a third testicle that the doc had missed during the sterilization procedure. So it can happen. You guys have to go in for physicals anyway, right? Just mention it when you schedule the appointment,” she said it like it fucking happened every day.
“Right, just like that,” you scoffed. “Nic, what am I going to do? We never really talked about more kids because we thought he couldn’t. We have three kids. We’re done…”
“Well, let me ask you a question...how do you feel about Rob?” she asked pointedly.
“I love him. He is the love of my life. The man I have been waiting for,” you answered without an ounce of hesitation.
“When you found out he couldn’t father more children, how did you feel?
“Honestly? A little sad. I never wanted more children, but Rob is a such an amazing father, that it wouldn’t have been the worst thing…” you trailed off.
“I think you have your answer,” Nicole reasoned. “Hey, I gotta run. I will see you this weekend for your shower! Love you!”
You contemplated your conversation with Nicole. She always has been your voice of reason when you needed it. She was right. You made the appointment and just hoped for the best.
Just a little drabble that fits into my Say It Like That series. It is currently 14 degrees below zero here in the great frozen state of Minnesota and I needed a little Rob to keep warm.

A/N: Not that I wasn’t already in the Rob trash can, made worse by @natasha-cole‘s extensive (and amazing) collection of Rob fanfiction, but then @d-s-winchester sent me this pic this morning.
“Holy fucking shit!” Rob’s voice rang out through the house followed by the slamming of the door.
“Babe? What’s wrong?” I called from the comfort of our bed.
“How do we even live here? I can’t believe I agreed to move in here with you! It’s fifteen degrees below zero! Do you know the high is only supposed to be four below. FOUR DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR THE FUCKING HIGH!” Rob shouted up the stairs.
“Awww don’t say that, Baby. It’s not like this every day. This is a just a cold snap. Come on, you went to school in Chicago; it gets cold there too, not to mention the lake effect snow!” I reminded him.
He walked through out bedroom door and I could see the icy crystals clinging to his mustache and beard. He rushed over to the bed and curled up next to me, pulling the covers over us. “AHHHHH what are you doing?!”
“Trying to get some feeling back in my hands,” he mumbled against my neck, not wet with the melting ice from his face. Soon his hot breath warmed me back up.
“What were you doing outside anyway?” I asked, turning around in his arms.
“I took the garbage out,” he replied. “Please tell me we don’t have any plans today and we don’t have to leave the warm house.”
“Well, the kids are at my parents, enjoying some Gramma and Grampa time. By the way, it’s colder there. So, I figured we could cuddle, watch some terrible movies and fill up on junk food,” I offered.
“I would rather fill up on you,’ he growled, his lips attacking my neck.
“I’m not hungry anyway,” I replied as the heat rose in my belly. “Rob...”
“Always hungry for you, Ang,” he moaned into my skin. “But next year, we spend the holidays on a tropical island.”
“When you say it like that, it sounds like the perfect second honeymoon,” I sighed. I was content in bed with my man to keep me warm.

It has been more than three years since I met the love of my life, but I didn’t know it until a year ago when Rob Benedict asked me out on that first date and the rest is our history. Truth be told, I was smitten with him three years ago when I first met him at during a photo op, but I was married and he was recently divorced, which I also didn’t know until a year ago.
The past year has been a roller coaster. You’ve been on a roller coaster, right? Or at least have seen one? The ups, the downs, the twists, the turns, the loop-the-loops. That is what love feels like. It has highs and lows. It has twists that you don’t see coming and loops that turn your insides to mush. My relationship with Rob was no different than that roller coaster that makes you squeal with delight, cry in fright, or fear you may throw up.
For the better part of the last year, Rob and I have been blending two families. Between the two of us, we have three children. Our kids met for the first time last Christmas when he arrived in Minneapolis for winter break with his two little darlings in tow. But as the roller coaster would have it, it wasn’t a smooth ride, not all of it at least. Do you have children? Well, even if you don’t, let me tell you; children fight, whether they are siblings or not. Things were no different with these three. They got along, but some of it was rocky. They now get along, mostly. But the important part is they have come to accept each other and I even heard the girls (mine and his) tell each other ‘I love you’ just a few weeks ago.
Life with Rob has been amazing, even when he isn’t here. He decided we needed a larger house just a few weeks after that winter break, so we purchased a larger, modest home in our same neighborhood. He didn’t want to uproot us completely, considering my daughter Olivia in all his plans, so she could stay in the same school. That is just one of the many reasons why I love him.
I work to maintain our home and some semblance of normalcy for my daughter since the split with her father. I also hold down a full time job. Rob commutes between Minneapolis and Los Angeles to be near his children when working. When he isn’t here or there, he can be found on tour most of the time. Our time together is tight, but it is never rushed. We cherish each moment, making the most of it when he is home.
In February, for our six month anniversary, he surprised me with a vacation. It was short and he worked for four solid days, but watching him in action at the Las Vegas Convention was mesmerizing. He is naturally charismatic and he and Rich make an amazing team. It helps that the fans love him, probably more than I do; they don’t have to pick up his dirty socks off the floor. The three days we had alone were filled with romantic dinners, shared stories from our childhoods of our fondest memories and as much time between the sheets as we could handle.
I have read a quote so many times that I feel it is now ingrained in me: ‘You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it.’ I don’t know where I first read that, but it rings true. We have all experienced tragedy, love, loss, heartbreak, death, strength and weakness. I have also heard that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. More than forty years on this planet has taught me that both are true, although you don’t think so in the times when you need it most. Being loved by Rob has taught me things I never thought I would believe and loving him is easy because of who he is and who I am when I am with him. Is that sappy enough for you? Anywhoo...on with the story.
I think back as I drive and realized that I am happy for the first time in a long time. The Minneapolis Convention is two days away and I am on my way to the airport to pick up my girls. It is a crazy story really, if you thought about it. What are the chances? I met Rob. We dated and fell in love and now we are living together. Rob introduced my girls, Ana and Megs, to Jared and Jensen. Megs now lives with Jensen in Vancouver, while Jared splits his time between Vancouver and Ana. It is a crazy small world, isn’t it?
Rob isn’t due home for another day and Jared and Jensen don’t come in for three more days due to their filming schedule. I have my girls all to myself for at least one more night. We catch up all the way home and I couldn't have been happier. Until the call came in from Rob, that there are some last minute details that Creation needs him and Rich to finalize before Friday.
“What do you mean you aren’t coming home?” I asked Rob when he called just as we walked in the door. I heard Ana and Megs head downstairs with Olivia, providing me some privacy as I made my way to our bedroom.
“Baby, I just can’t. Our flight doesn’t even get in until after nine tomorrow, by the time Creation is done with us, it will be after midnight. We all have a very big weekend ahead of us and you deserve some quality time, just the three of you. Drop Liv off at your folks and live it up with the girls, Babe,” Rob told me.
“Now I am going to sound whiny cause I just want to see you,” I cried into the phone, “Robby, you haven’t been home in weeks. We miss you; I miss you.”
“I miss my girls, too, more than I can ever tell you,” Rob sighed on the other end of the line. “But I will see you Friday morning, bright and early. I love you, Honey.”
“I love you, too, Rob,” I whispered. “Fly safe, Babe.” I dropped my phone on the bed and flopped down dramatically before I decided I needed to pull myself together. I had guests and Liv didn’t need to see Mama like this before she spent a week with Gramma and Grampa.
The four of us ate a delicious dinner and before long, Olivia was snug in bed. The girls and I were on our second bottle of wine out on the back porch. We got our giggles out on the first bottle and then I started thinking out loud.
“He has been acting really weird lately, ya know? He didn’t come home last weekend because the kids had some school thing and the weekend before that it was a Con. I knew what I signed up for when I said yes to that first date, but sometimes, I don’t want it to be so hard,” I lamented and like the amazing, supportive friends they are, they listened with non-judgemental ears.
“Just another couple of days, Ang, then he will be home and you can be together. Megs and I don’t even mind that you won’t be with us Friday night,” Ana stated.
“After karaoke, you know you will be in his room, clothes flying everywhere and making noises that would make a porn star blush!” Megs laughed so hard she snorted.
“Yeah, two more days. Here is to good men, amazing love and the two best friends a girl could hope for,” I raised my glass to join theirs and we finished off another bottle.

Friday at the conventions were always a fun time. It was Rich’s favorite day and that made all in attendance giddy, the three of us included. It was also an easy day, not as much happened and there were fewer guests, the schedules were lighter so Rob had more free time...Usually. However, it didn’t appear to be working on our favor this time around.
Before I knew it, karaoke was over and I had only received one text from Rob, saying Rich needed him for rehearsal for the Saturday Night Special concert. I was unhappy with his explanation, but luckily, there was booze in our room and plenty of it. It was going to be a long weekend, if the start was any indication.

With my oh-so-handy VIP pass, I let myself backstage during Kim and Brianna’s panel on Saturday. I had a few Irish coffees under my belt and was going to let my Mr. Wonderful know exactly what was on my mind.
“Oh hey Ang, um, Rob isn’t here right now. He was rushed off by a volunteer, something about missing photo ops,” Matt stuttered when he saw the look of determination on my face. I looked closely at him and my guess is that my look went from determination to wrath, because he retreated as I advanced on him, my finger poking him in the chest.
“Matthew Joseph Cohen! If you do not tell me where my boyfriend is right now, so help me God, Mandyi will have to find a donor if she wants another baby!” I growled as I backed him into the wall.
“Ang, I swear, I don’t know where he is. He and Rich took off, said something about picking up a package but didn’t say anything else, except not to tell you,” Matt blurted out. For such a strong man, he really did cave easily.
“Matt, I am so sorry, I just miss him. Um, don’t tell him I was here, okay?” I hugged him quickly and darted from the room, looking for the nearest restroom to check myself before I headed back to join Ana and Megs. I could hide internal turmoil, but I preferred to keep a pleasing outward appearance; I hated giving people satisfaction and social media always caught the worst of it when it happened.
“Babes, I am skipping the rest of the afternoon. I have a headache, so I am going back to the room, I think,” I said as I rejoined them at the table.
“What happened, Ang?” Megs questioned.
“Nothing happened, Megs,” I told her.
“Angelina, spill it!” Ana was a little scary when the situation called for it.
“I don’t know! He wasn’t there. Matt said he and Rich took off, mumbling something about a package. I left. I didn’t even wait for Kim and Bri to get off stage like I planned,” I relayed.
“You go back to the room, the boys will be here in an hour or so anyway and we will come get you for dinner. Be ready at seven,” Ana kissed my cheek and I started the short walk to our hotel. We preferred to walk during the day and leave the car and driver for after dark. The warm sun and slight breeze did little to lighten my disposition, though. Ever since I got that call from Rob the other night saying he wasn’t coming home and now the girls were acting weirder than normal; something was going on, I could feel it. I was going to get to the bottom of it, but first I needed to make a stop. I called our driver on reserve and waited patiently for him to arrive.

I heard the door open and close, followed by giggles. Jensen’s deep laugh and Jared’s breathy chuckle spilled through the open bathroom door. I don’t know what had them going, but I could tell from the sounds that four of my favorite people were happy. I took one last glance at myself in the mirror. The cobalt blue, one shoulder dress was stunning and the strappy heels were just what I needed. Not bad, I thought to myself and worth every penny he didn’t even know he paid, but he would. I strutted out of the bathroom to join my friends.
My thoughts were echoed when I entered the living area of our suite and received a low whistle from Jensen, cat calls from Megs and Ana, while Jared just stood there, mouth open and eyes wide. “I take it from your reactions that this receives your stamp of approval?” I twirled once for the four of them.
“I don’t know what he did, Sweetheart, but he is going to be begging for forgiveness after one look at you,” Jensen smiled in approval, wrapping me in a tight embrace. “It’s going to work itself out, don’t worry your pretty little head.”
“I hope so, Jay. Thank you,” I whispered before he let me go.
“Let’s get this party started!” I exclaimed, grabbing my small clutch.
Dinner, although delicious and entertaining as always with this crew, was anticlimactic for me. Rob and Rich had not been able to make it; typical for the weekend so far. I was starting to worry that something was really wrong. I looked around the table at my best friends, so happy and in love, and it made me more than a little melancholy that Rob wasn’t there with me. I caught Ana and Megs as they exchanged glances more than once and it made me wonder all the more what was going on.
“I have to get back for sound check; don’t be late!” Jensen gave us all a wink, kissed Megs and then he and Jared were gone. I sent the driver a quick text to let him know we were ready and we finished our drinks. The ride back to the venue was reticent; as strange as it may be, I didn’t have much to say.
Once we arrived, we found our seats quickly as they were right in front of the band. I excused myself to head to the bar for a quick shot of courage in the form of Patron Silver, which I had sworn off since my early thirties due to the fact that it made me emotional and overly frisky. I was already emotional as it was and getting frisky was the farthest thing from my mind. As I entered the auditorium, I saw Rob talking with Ana, Jared and Megs, but as I approached my seat, he abruptly turned and got back on stage. I blinked back the tears that threatened to escape, threw my shoulders back and put on my best smile as I returned to my seat like I hadn’t seen anything.
An internal battle raged and I tried to push the negative thoughts away. Did I love him? Hell yes, with everything I had. As I watched him perform in front of all the fans, with his friends; that was what he lived for and was also one of the many reasons I loved Rob. The stage was the one place he is allowed to be himself and totally free. Did it make me a little sad? Yes, I can’t lie about that. This was the man I missed most when he was away.
We were already an hour into the concert when the stage was plunged into darkness. I could see shadows moving around and I saw Rob in his spot, but that was about all I could make out. Then a single spotlight shone brightly on the love of my life. His face covered in sweat, that cute, little hat perched atop his head as he addressed the crowd.
“I want to thank everyone for being here tonight. We have a special song that we have been working on that we would like to perform for you tonight. Jensen, Kim, Brianna?” Rob called from his mic.
Three more spotlights lit up the stage opposite Rob as the three stars took their places. The music started and that stupid, persistent tear made another appearance. This was the first song Rob ever sang to me.
I've seen it come and I've watched it go
The ins and outs and the highs and lows
Well I gave my heart and I paid the cost
For the loves I made there were friends I lost
At the point I'd almost had enough
Like the morning sun you woke me up
You held me close and you help me see
Oh you made a believer out of me
Now I'm alright, I've got you in my life
And I never felt love, ever feel so right
It's a miracle and a mystery
How the hands of fate brought you to me
I had lost all hope, had lost all faith
With each kiss you loved my fear away
Now I'm alright, I got you in my life
And I never felt love ever feel so right
Well it's good to feel and for once I know
That I'll never have to worry about you letting go
No matter where this road may lead
As long as I've got you with me
I'll be alright, I've got you in my life now I'm alright
And I've never felt ever love feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
Jared appeared out of nowhere and took my hand in his as he pulled me from my seat and toward the stage steps. I saw Rob still strumming his guitar as he walked to side of the stage and down to me. He reached for my hand and I took it without question. He lead me back on stage with him as he finished out the song.
I'll be alright, I've got you in my life now I'm alright
And I've never felt ever love feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
Never felt so right
Never felt love ever feel so right
Never felt love
The crowd broke into applause and Rob removed his hat and bowed dramatically. I had to hold myself back from grabbing him by the face and pressing my lips to his. That was not something we had done before, not at a convention. I settled for lacing my fingers with his.
“For anyone who doesn’t know, this stunning woman next to me is my girlfriend, Angelina. This is the very first song I ever sang to her, for her. She is the light and the love of my life. I met her three years ago in this very building and have never been happier. I have a small confession and a big apology,” Rob looked over at me and I felt one tear escape it’s lashed prison as I made eye contact with him.
“I have been pretty busy and rather absent lately and I miss my girl. Honey, I am sorry that I haven’t been home as much as either one of us would like, but I have good reason. Jared, a little help please?” Rob explained to me as the audience watched, rapt with attention, and Jared slid up next to him and placed a small box in his hand.
“I had some business that could not be avoided for good and bad. Ang, I love you more than life itself. I thought I had love, but I have never experienced this before you. You make me a better person, a better father, a better partner, and I cannot imagine spending another day without you in my life.” Rob was now speaking directly to me and the crowd slowly faded from view as I saw him drop to one knee in front of me.
“Will you give me the chance to make you happy each and every day for the rest of my life?” Rob opened the small box and in it was the most beautiful, brilliant blue ring I have ever seen.
I dropped to my knees to get as near him as possible before I nodded. I wasn’t an emotional person to begin with and I despised crying, but those tears were making it impossible for me to form words. I did what I wanted to do since the song ended and I grabbed his face with both hands, pressing my lips to his. The kiss was sweet and salty, as we were both crying now, but it was officially the first kiss of the rest of our lives. Rob slid the ring on my finger as I heard Jensen congratulate us as we got to our feet.
“Supernatural Family...I present to you the future Mr. and Mrs. Rob Benedict!” Jensen screamed into the mic and the crowd went wild. Rob held me tight to him as my face lit up.
“By the way, you are killing me in that dress and I can’t wait to rip it off of you!” Rob kissed me once more.

Let’s all assume for the sake of fiction that ALL parties involved are single.
Written for Kari’s @thing-you-do-with-that-thing SPN Hiatus Writing Challenge 2017 and the prompt will be bold “It’s 8:30, I have a hangover and you’re annoying me.”
It was hot outside, but it was beautiful. The first truly nice Spring day in Minneapolis and my girlfriends and I were taking full advantage of it. My deck faced the bright sun and all three of us were soaking up the rays. Megs and I were lounging in the zero gravity chairs, while Ana opted for a towel in the grass.
“Ang? You need another?” Megan called as she rose from her chair.
“Yeah, thanks Babe,” I called out as she walked through the sliding glass door into the kitchen. It was a quick walk to the ‘cocktail fridge.’
“Where the fuck you been?!” I called to her as she walked back out several minutes later.
“Hey! I had to pee!” Megs retorted, before placing an ice cold can between my shoulder blades.
“You bitch!” I shouted, giggling and nearly falling out of my chair.
“Hey, bitches, keep it down! Some of us are trying to sleep,” Ana grumbled from her spot in the shade.
“Sorry, jerk,” Megs and I responded at the same time, erupting in a fit of laughter.
“Maybe if you hadn’t been up all night writing porn, you wouldn’t be so salty today,” Megs threw back at her as she settled back into her lounger.
“So what is the plan for tonight?” Megs asked me. I could see her eyebrows raised up over her silver aviators. I knew that look.
“The boys said they would be here about eight, then dinner,” I responded, waiting for the inevitable.
“Just the boys?” Megs sassed back.
“I don’t know, Megs. Robby said, and I quote, ‘We will be there around eight, Red. Don’t miss me too much. Love you,’ then he hung up. He didn’t say who all he was bringing, so I assume it is him and Rich, as usual,” I closed my eyes and laid back down; I could hear her rolling her eyes.
We enjoyed the afternoon, thoroughly. I missed my girls so damn bad and it was the best feeling in the world to spend a couple of days with them. Well, if I am being honest, it is the second best feeling in the world. The first was no doubt being in love with my amazing fiance, Rob.
The drinks flowed and the day passed, the sun hiding behind the trees. I felt myself growing sleepy and I was so relaxed I could just fall asle…
“Red, Baby, wake up. I’m home,” Rob’s voice called softly in my ear and I turned my head toward him, groaning at the pain radiating from my gray matter.
“Robby, head hurts,” I grumbled, reaching out for his hands.
“Come here, Baby. I got you,” Rob lifted me into his arms, carrying me inside and laying me gently on the couch. He returned shortly with a glass of water and a couple of ibuprofen.
“Hmmm, thank you, Robby. What time is it?” I inquired, laying an arm over my eyes.
“It’s almost eight-thirty. Why?” Rob asked.
“Oh no! Our night out! Where are Ana and Megs? And Rich?” I looked around, finally my eyes landing back on his.
“Megs and Ana are out back, entertaining our guests,” Rob cajoled.
“Guests?” I groaned once more. “Who did you bring home this time?”
“Just Jared and Jensen, I promise. But we are scheduled to meet Rich and Billy later. You up for it?” Rob sat down next to me, lightly massaging my scalp with one hand.
“I don’t know, Babe, I-” I was cut off from Megs howling as she walked into the house, followed closely by a loud ‘roaarr’ I recognized as Jensen.
“Oh. My. God. He showed her his bear boxers, didn’t he?” I grumbled into the pillow as the two of them entered the living room. “Jensen, so help me God if she doesn’t come home in one piece…” I started.
“Don’t worry, Darlin’. She’ll come home in one piece, she just might not be able to walk,” Jensen declared as he smacked her ass so hard it echoed through the room.
“Jesus Christ, you two. Take it somewhere else!” I shouted at the pair of them.
“Bee in your bonnet, Beautiful?” Jensen laughed.
“No! It’s 8:30, I have a hangover and you’re annoying me.” I threw a pillow at him.
“Okay, okay. Feel better, Ang. We will miss you tonight.” Jensen placed a sweet kiss to my cheek and pulled my bestie from the room.
“Ana?” I asked, looking back at Rob.
“Already wrapped up in Jared on the deck. They will be out there for awhile, so they won’t bother us.”
“I just want me some Robby snuggles and I will feel right as rain. This is what I get for day drinking with my girls.” I confessed, wrapping Rob in my arms as he laid down next me to me.
“Yeah, but it was worth it wasn’t it?” He laughed.
“Totally worth it. I would suffer through a hundred hangovers to be able to see them everyday.” I murmured against his chest.
“What do you say you and me head upstairs so we can get our snuggle on, while the lovebirds can have the couch? I promise to be gentle,” Rob whispered in my ear.
“I am only a little hungover; you don’t need to be that gentle,” I admitted to my lover.
“Well, when you say it like that…” Rob attacked my neck, tickling me with his scruff and whispering promises in my ear that I knew he would make good on, and I was counting on it.
