The visual design and contrast that the characters in Transformers: Devastation have with the environments they inhabit relays a clear sense of “other,” as the metallic bodies of the Autobots and Decepticons shine and reflect light in a highly stylized fashion. In addition to making these character greatly distinct from the backgrounds, this also serves to highlight them as alien- which ties in heavily to the core narrative themes of the game as a whole.
