This is a drabble for one of my lesser written fandoms, Inspector Lewis. I adored Lewis and Laura so freaking much that I had to write this.

The Second Time Around - He had never expected to love someone the way he had loved his first wife, but love found him again.

He loved his wife. He’d never thought he’d love anyone else as much. He’d never thought he’d want to. But he’d never expected to come back to Oxford, to familiar sights, familiar places.

Familiar people.

At first it was just the comfort of seeing an old friend, and then it evolved, slowly and surely, into something more. He wasn’t sure when he’d realized he felt something more, and it took him longer to decide to act on it, but now he’d decided he wanted to spend what was left of his life with someone else.

Someone he could love.
