Robert Marlow - The Face of Dorian Gray
El día de hoy el sitio web oficial de The Cure anunció el fallecimiento de Perry Bamonte, quien había comenzado a trabajar con la banda como técnico de Robert Smith y posteriormente se unió como guitarrista.
Today, ten years ago, I saw I Satellite, Sista Mannen På Jorden, Marlow, Psyche, and Rational Youth at Nalen in Stockholm.
That is also where I got the "Saturdays in Silesia" 12" at the top left and the Cold War Night Life CD (third row, first from left) autographed. (In fact I already had Tracy Howe's autograph on the CWNL CD from when I bought it, at the 1999 Stockholm concert, but this time I got Kevin Komoda's as well.)
Rational Youth, if you haven't noticed, is one of my favourite bands, and I've seen them five times and interviewed them once.
MARLOW: INSIDEOUTSIDE (2008; Marlow/Durant)
Apart from performing as a solo artist, Robert Marlow also has the synthpop duo Marlow together with Gary Durant. They started performing already in 1999, as I remember on a tour with Rational Youth (I saw them), but they didn’t get around to releasing an album until ten years later.
The above video is produced by Vince Clarke, who was out touring with Yazoo at the time (where I went to the opening show in Copenhagen, but again that’s another story).
ROBERT MARLOW: THE FACE OF DORIAN GRAY (1983; Marlow)
Earlier this week I listened to Robert Marlow’s album The Peter Pan Effect for the first time in years. It’s kept rather well.
