Help The Willis Kids Get To The Open!
(exclaimer: I am not 100% certain that this is legitimate - it certain looks that way, but still please be cautious)
“Please take a moment to read this. As a friend of the family I am hoping we can all help them out! After the funds are raised I will have Brenda Willis withdraw the money from GoFundMe directly The Willis Family has been through an incredible tragedy recently that only came to light in the last year. The public became aware last September that Toby Willis, the father of the Willis family, was arrested on child rape charges. On July 11, he pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 40 years in prison They have a long road of recovery ahead of them that includes many aspects of healing through counseling and faith. Many communities they have been involved with have stood with them in support of their desire to begin putting their lives back together. Music and dance have had a therapeutic effect on the children that comes from the opportunity to express themselves in a way they love. They have started dancing again, loving every second of it and bringing back many great memories of dance events they have attended in the past. The family is in a very difficult financial situation due to the high attorney fees and other costs involved in dealing with a situation of this nature and also due to Toby squandering the family’s finances. Brenda Willis is attempting to find ways to help her children move on from the pain and loss by allowing them to get involved in some of the activities that seem to bring them the most joy. The US Open is one of the events that they treasure and would love to attend this year if they can find the funding to get them there. The professionals that have inspired the Willis kids to dance are wonderful people that continue to lend their encouragement to the family. Attending the US Open would be an opportunity to reconnect with those individuals and other dancers who would love to see them on the dance floor again. We are looking to raise travel, hotel, and more for this family. Any amount we raise will help! I'm setting this GoFundMe at 10k. Thanks Robert Royston”
