WATCHING

Unpopular opinion, it wasn't really all that good. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not against any themes, female centric or feminist stuff doesn't bother me. I'm glad to see and experience movies with those elements.

It was just pointless or unfocused kind of story. I get there's a campiness that's intentional, but it just tangles up the whole plot.

My mom fell asleep on it twice. She even skipped out on finishing it wth me, she said to go on and just fill her in on the ending.

So I had to take a break and then finish it alone (months later). She usually has some fun with retro and Soapy type shows and stories for fun, but it didn't live up to the hype or stylization for either of us.

I think much of it's popularity is just a case of cliche conformity of liking it and it's themes because others like those things, when it's not really as standout or clever as people tell each other it is.

Now that not withstanding, I liked the pretty accurate depiction of the occult. Other than it not working like that, voodoo dolls to make people kill themselves or love potions and magic controlling people like that, making them depressed about their unrequited love for Elaine. But the "procedure" of the ritual magic is well done.

And I do love the surreal colorfulness of the film too.

But it's a 'too much some things and not enough of the others' sort of dislike that I/we had for it, I guess.
