I just found out now that they actually recasted someone else for Vasily for s2. I’m thinking thoughts here… I would have loved Robert — he and George would have been perfect as the Lantsov brothers, especially how the book described Nikolai as having sharper features in contrast to Vasily, but hey I’m hoping Paddy proves otherwise!

Think about it, Robert Wilde was a fan preferred choice, fits the description of Nikolai better and looks closer to the tv "handsome love interest" type that fans expected. How good must have been Patrick´s audition?

So it seems like clownery will soon be over here on the shadow and bone fandom since apparently the castings will soon be announced. So let’s go down the memory lane for one last time and take a look at all the fancasts, rumours and clownery for Nikolai Lantsov, shall we? Part 1

1. Evan Roderick

Personal favourite and the day I’ll stop saying he could be an AMAZING Nikolai will be the day i die. His face is SO aristocratic damn it!

2. Robert Wilde

Another fan favourite along with Evan Roderick. Actually these two managed to have articles written about their popularity as Nikolai back in August. That’s how much fans wanted them for the role. For me Robert always gave me major Sturmhold vibes but not Nikolai.

3. Drew Starkey

Woke up the fandom and brought back the Clownery after posting a story with Archie (as if that’s how they’ll announce a character lol). Turns out they will just star together in another project

4. Brandon Flynn

Follows the entire cast of Shadow and Bone and Kit follows him back too. Kinda sus if you ask me. Some say he could be our Wylan. Can totally see it.

5. Ross Lynch

Apparently at some point this year his name appeared on imdb as Nikolai Lantsov so obviously the fans went crazy.

I came upon your post about Brandon Flynn and Robert Wilde. They have known each other for many years. Not to say that they are not both in shadow and bone, I have no idea. But Robert's girlfriend is one of Brandon's closest friends from University. So the fact that they follow each other is not a sign of anything in this case. But the fact that they do both follow Leigh and the cast is interesting on its own.
