So...a list of my most hated ships
I decided not to adjust myself to a number, and not ranking them, simply explaining just a bit. This is completely personal opinions and the meassurement is only on levels that bother ME and for different reasons, for that you will find not every toxic ship in the world is here and find some ships with abusive dynamic paired with ones that are actually harmless.
Does that mean every ship here is toxic? No
Does that mean the fandoms of every ship here are bad? Not inherently
does that mean every ship here are bad? well...yes, to me they are objetively bad but i am not persuading people to find them bad too.
I will do my best to NOT make this long, but i would anwser with detail if someone interested asks.
And against my stomach´s wishes i will refrain myself to include a ship because of the fandom being annoying. There is only one i will include with the fandom being an influence on my distaste of it and it´s....
Alina Starkov and The D@rkling from The grisha trilogy
Surprisingly i almost don't include them because i hate it with a passion, i think it´s my most hated ship of all time...but....but they are not canon, so it´s kind of the point they shouldn't be together. However, i do not enjoy their interactions as lovers (i barely buy them as enemies) i find it reasonable at first but the author i admit did try to milk the popularity (although she NEVER baited, if you believed they were going to be canon i judge your literacy abilities) so yeah, this one is a bad merge of fandom and canon being both bad in my eyes.
Since we are talking about the grishaverse , let´s get the other two out:
Inej Ghafa and Tolya Yul Bataar from Shadow and bone
The only reason they are not the worst ship on the world is because it never got to happen beyond two seconds. (If someone wants a detailed version i can give a link on my take)
Nina Zenik and Matthias Helvar from Shadow and bone
I NEED YOU TO ACTUALLY READ IT SAYS SHADOW AND BONE
I gave enought of my thoughts for the show´s portrayal of Nina and the runing of her character being completely related to her ship.A ship where one of them has to be demeaned in order to fit the showrunner´s sick ideals of romance, it´s a worthless one. The only good parts about it come directly from the book, everything else is bullshit, if you want a REAL ETL story with tri dimensional characters instead of the trope just for the sake of it, read six of crows with the original Nina and Matthias, instead of Matthias and his simp.
Ok, enought with this verse.
Rey Skywalker and Kyl@ R3n from the Star wars sequel trilogy
I don't feel like explaining a lot, you can't convince me it´s not cheap fanservice poorly forced etl.
Ted Mosby and Robin Scherbatsky from How i meet your mother
This one, is probably the worst canon ship of all time. It´s amazing how it managed to screw over their well crafted message only because the showrunners couldn't let it go. Bye
Sara and Lucas from Los hombres de Paco
This is a spanish series, so for those not familiar: Sara is 16, Lucas is her father´s 30 something friend. The whole series (which, unfortunately is otherwise VERY funny and endearing at times) romantizes this innapropiate relationship, not only it´s the pedo age gap, it also very stakery on her part. I take it back with Ted and Robin, THIS may be the worst of them all.
Duncan and Gwen from Total Drama
The build up is SO poorly done, it ruined all characters involved, it´s too obvious it only exist for the sake of fanservice. And you know what? i don't care that their break up was shit, the whole writing overall was, they didn't deserve a dignified end.
Leo Valdez and Calypso from Heroes of Olympus
I think i already talked about this one, it blows, it feels like a bad Adam Sandler comedy, it´s so loveless, so done to subvert expectations. And look, i can respect he didn't made Leo end up with someone the fandom would expect like the one girl left, like Reyna or Rachel (i do lowkey ship them but whatever) but that´s pretty much it. Whatever worked with Solangelo, didn't work here. If you want a ship of annoyances to lovers that involves characters with similar traits that actually work, i know that sounds my solution to everything but i mean it: read six of crows, you will find a couple that are everything Caleo are not.
Cassie Howard & Nate Jacobs from Euphoria
To make it short, the show screwed over itself the second this became a thing. While i think there are parts where it has something to say i still think it was for the worse and specially it sickens me how they frame it as she being the worst part of it, when he is well...nate. Euphoria has other toxic pairs, but those ones i feel have deep things to learn while this one is trapped in a misogynist gaze.
Fiyero and Elphaba Thropp from Wicked
I have to repeat: that a ship is here it means i hate it, not that it´s toxic. This one i just thing is writen badly, but the thing that makes me burn the most (and the very reason i hated him) ; it´s INMENSENLY hypocritical narratively (i can explain if asked) and reminds you that yes, the original writer is a man with sexist ideas.
Erin Quinn and James Maguire from Derry Girls
Did you think only enemies to lovers were going to catch punches? No, friends to lovers have their own shitty ships as well. And i hear you "but there are worst ships like MIlkcrate boy and tall girl" and yes and you´d be right, but here is the thing: netflix wattpad ish movies are bad, i can't expect them not to be bad.Derry Girls is GREAT, is very good, which is i don't explain myself why making something SO forced, so rushed, nobody asked for it and it´s the very definition of comphet. Out of the group, they were probably the ones with the less meaningful interaction. They only got together because: she is the main character , he is the only man AND because the other girls were his cousin, lesbian and Orla. Worst part is that it only existed as a forced conflict stuff and thats kind of it.
