So, in Brazilian corruption, Operation Car Wash, and Vaza-Jato news, prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol and Supreme Federal Court minister Roberto Barroso have been revealed to hold a pupil-mentor kind of close relationship, dating back to them meeting in Oxford in 2016. In 2017, when another Supreme Court minister died and a vacancy was opened, they actively articulated with each other to have Barroso enter the Court and act according to Dallagnol and his colleagues’ interests in the Operation Car Wash. Said articulation involved mobilizing allies to plant information on the press and “burn” names who were competing with Barroso. In Brazil, judges must keep equal distance from both the prosecutors’ team and the defense team of a defendant. Operation Car Wash is already under scrutiny due to the prosecutors’ close ties and articulations with (then judge of their cases now minister of Justice) Sergio Moro.
