Finally figured out how to articulate my problem with everyone ragging on Miley Cyrus vs mainly only women ragging on Robin Thicke:

Miley is the only one showing off Miley's body. She is very clearly the owner of herself, and she is showing off because it is HER choice. She continuously makes that so clear.

In Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke and the two other tools are the ones showing off the women's bodies. They are the owners-the women become lesser objects of sex, like their opinion doesn't matter

BLURRED LINES BY ROBIN THICKE

It's kind of strange that you're asking me this question now because I'm sort of repulsed by all of it. At the gym this morning, Robin Thicke's song came on and someone mentioned it's possibly about date rape or something. It's called "Blurred Lines" and they repeat, "You know you want it," again and again. That's so much of what's out there right now on the radio and television. It's just crude and disgusting and it infuriates me, to be honest. I have to justify it with Deb because it's her go-to tool and it was effective and it made people pay attention to her. It was a crutch really. It wasn't cheap, I guess is what I'm saying. So to go back and say "I loved it when she said this F-bomb or this weird compound blending of two bad words" makes it cheap and I would like to leave it thinking that it wasn't.
