At an older job of mine, part of my duties was to go through book donations. This copy of The Two Towers was missing a third of it's pages....so of course I took it home for collage XD Today though I tested it for more of a background doodle texture - on my first live stream in a good while! It's not going to be a general thing as yet since I'm still tweaking the layout and equipment that I have ( if you want to see my current setup, check out my stories ^^;) but if I'm going to be stuck at home, it's time to get done a lot of the stuff I kept putting off. This one took a turn for the horrid mid-way through, but it turned around after some more layering! I think that's a common issue with projects - at the midway point, your plans have gone amok, you have no idea what you're doing and - horrors - you're out of tea. A bit like life I guess - when it looks like suck, best to keep going and work with what you've got until things start looking more cohesive. "The Price of Despair" - mixed media (paper, acrylic paint, foil wrappers , glue, nail polish and lots more) on cabinet board *-*-*-* I'm still over the dang moon that some of my pieces sold at The DC lowbrow show. One of my collages even?!? When I started doing these I wasn't entirely sure if they were going to appeal to anybody other than me, as these sort of...visual vomits of what's in my studio, stress and wanting a break from representational work into something a bit more abstract. For an example, this piece is partially made up of all of the little price tags I've used on my work at conventions...which I just...never disposed of. But maybe that's the thing?
