Yo ok so I got introduced to your blog by a mutual friend and!! Your art!! Is so freaking good!! How do you work on your background design? I never know what to do for backgrounds so I'll just make a bunch of character sketches, pretend I'll put 'em in a comic proper and then never do. But your designs are super good! Also can you tell me about the story you're working on? The characters you've been drawing look super neat

i’m still experimenting with how i do backgrounds, but i essentially start with an atmosphere in mind. i’ve practiced a lot with lighting and perspective, that’s just something that needs time to develop. if you want advice, i’d say… draw backgrounds YOU wanna see. don’t try to force something that bores you.
and these characters/designs aren’t mine, they’re from shin megami tensei: strange journey, a jrpg that i love dearly. my own original stuff… will probably get its own blog at some point. if you like these designs, the artist behind them is kazuma kaneko. look him up!
