i'm playing iron lung while in my friend discord vc and @boiledcabbageofficial accidentally created an awesome mood rambling about shin godzilla's design (the most fucked up godzilla!!) while i'm driving around a shitty submarine in an ocean of blood and something making noises outside of it
been thinking more about iron lung/psychonauts again and a thought:
so, in psychonauts canon you have the collective unconscious, the metaphysical realm where everyone's minds are. and in people's minds you have representations (objects, characters, etc.) of concepts, different going-ons, in someone's mind. you alter the representation, you change the person's mind.
what happens if you extend that logic to the entire universe?
what if all the stars, the habitable planets, are gone-- because the concepts of them were killed?
and the blood moons-- so things normally go into the collective unconscious. namely, the psychonauts, in a sort of "out of body experience". and it's a realm of dreams, a realm of surrealism and symbolism. what would happen if something came out instead?

i know the portal arc in mcsm couldn't continue indefinitely by the nature of being a telltale game but it feels like a perfect set-up for a doctor who esc episodic story structure. it basically IS a compressed season of dw structurally, kinda????? group of weird adventurers jump into the locale of the week that's disconnected from everything else. crucially, any setting is free game-- minecraft is just as open as time travel to what you can stick in there. the adventurers deal with a threat that ranges from "mundane" to "reality-destroying apocalyptic", rush away into the next adventure, roll credits. maybe they get an extra party member that sticks with them for a few episodes. there's an overarching plot over the season but most of the eps can be easily be watched standalone. warcrimes mcgrimes grandpa is a crucial party member
