It’s day 3 and I’m already too tired to finish colouring the picture so here’s a WIP. If I ever feel motivated to actually complete this monster alien version of Gyro Man, I’ll post it as a reblog. The vibe I was going for here was dragonfly monster. Colourless image under the cut.

So I took this picture for demonstration purposes on Twitter, and looking at it always kinda makes me sad.
See, this is the back of the box for the Rockman 5 "Rush Area" model kit set by Bandai circa 1993. You look at that diorama and think "oh hell yeah, toys of... almost all the Robot Masters from 5!"
Yeah, about that. Near as can be told, only four kits ever saw release. Rockman, Rush, Star Man, and Blues. The ones with numbers on the far left-bottom.
You get a close look at the other "kits" and it's obvious they're prototypes, not actual kits. Their details are painted, not stickers. They don't have wrong color parts like Star Man does thanks to the needs of cheap model kit sprue-ing. They're clearly based on the stock art poses and in some places, completely solid, no joints.
This was not uncommon for quite a while in Japan. They showed off concept art (exquisitely realistically-painted art, sometimes) and prototypes like it was finished product you'll be able to get eventually. Sometimes you did get them. Sometimes you never did. Hell, sometimes when they imported stuff from the US, they'd show the entire run of US toys in ads and catalogs and then would very definitely not release it all.
The Robot Masters get so little merch outside of tiny keshi, so to see possibly my favorite batch of bots in the entire franchise like this, so close and yet so far... sigh.
(I been looking for the Star Man kit forever. Pretty much sure I'll never have it.)

Blueprint Excerpts, Case 1
Hello everyone, I would like to welcome you to a (hopefully) reccuring segment called Blueprint Excerpts where we are going to be speculating on how some of the robots of the Mega Man series work! For a sci-fi franchise all about robots, we don't really know much about how these robots function, so we're gonna do some brainstorming and follow up calculations to connect the dots.
For this very first instance of Blueprint Excerpts, I want to talk about a subject lots of us have dreamed about, flight. Many Robot Masters in the Classic Mega Man series can fly, but today's specimen Gyro Man does it in a novel way; a propeller. Did you know Wily originally intended to give Gyro Man a more advanced propulsion system, but settled on the propeller to save money?
Blueprint Excerpts, Case 1: How Fast is Gryo Man's Propeller?
Propeller based flying machines, like helicopters, work by spinning fast enough that the upward force generated is at least equal to the force of gravity pulling the object downward. Technically thrust and drag are also elements, but today we are solely going to be concerned with the Lift Force and the Gravitational Force. The latter has a simple formula you have likely seen before:
F(g) = m*g
Where m is the mass of the object and g is the acceleration of gravity. The former, however, is much trickier, and we are already going to have to make some simplifications. The Lift Force of a propellered object is given by:
F(L) = k*p*(v^2)*A/2
Where k is a lift constant, p is the density of air, v^2 is the velocity of the propeller, squared, and A is the area swept by the rotating propeller. Using the fact that F(L) = F(g) at minimum, we can create a new equation for the minimum possible speed required:
v = sqrt((2*m*g)/(k*p*A))
Where sqrt means to take the square root. We're just gonna treat this at being near sea level with typical atmospheric conditions, so we'll take g = 9.81 m/s^2 and p = 1.275 kg/m^3. k is a value that is typically found using experiments, so... we're just gonna have to make something up. For reasons not really worth explaining, I'm saying its .55 (a link to a chart I eyeballed for angle of attack at 0 degrees will be in the sources below). If there is an unreasonable part to our calculation anywhere, its here. That leaves us with mass and area, which, uh... how big is Gyro Man? I don't believe he has a canon height or weight.
Using the Power Battle sprites as a scale, Mega Man is about 46 pixels tall, while Gyro is about 59, with his propeller being about 65. Mega Man is canonically 1.32 meters tall, so that makes Gyro Man 1.693 meters tall, and his propeller 1.865 meters long. That means the propeller sweeps an area of pi * (1.693/2)^2, or about 2.73 square meters, so thats A, the area. But what about the mass? Well, we're going to assume Mega Man and Gyro Man are uniformly dense and that they have an identical base area, only varying with height (which is frankly a silly thing to assume, but we have nothing else to go on, so hopefully it balances out), and that means Gyro Man's mass can be found by scaling up Mega Man's mass, which is canonically 105 kg, which gives us a mass of 134.7 kg. With all of this information, we can plug back into our original equation to find:
v=sqrt((2*134.7*9.81)/(.55*1.275*2.73)) = 37.1 m/s
So, is that our final answer? Unfortunately, no. That would be the speed if the propeller was just moving forward in a straight line. However, we are talking about rotational speed, specifcally Rotations per Minute, or RPM. So we need another equation, but this one isn't as complicated, though we will be using r, the radius (which is half the length of the propeller we found) and w, the angular velocity, as a midway point.
w = v/r
RPM = w*60/(2*pi)
RPM = v*60/(2*pi*r)
RPM = 37.1*60/(2*pi*(1.865/2)) = 380 RPM
So now, we have a final answer of 380 RPM... although our choices of k, the lift constant, and m, the mass, are a little suspect. Now we ought to ask ourselves, how do these compare to real life? Well a quick google search reveals typical helicopters operate with an RPM of 225 to 500... so actually our result is surprisingly reasonable. Somehow, Gyro Man has a somewhat feasible propeller speed. If you found these calculations disagreeable, though, feel free to reply with your criticsm or advice! I'm not some infallible math prodigy. For now though, fly on, Gryo Man.

Chargeman is the 38th robot master that Rock fights, he has a bellicose and straightforward personality, ready to fight on a whim. Surprisingly, he loves to tell old folk tales and stories, just make sure he isn’t busy, he also doesn’t like new trends that much. He is the cheapest robot master that Wily made, when he found out, his personality became a bit twisted. He was made to hoard and send supplies to the Wily base.
His attack is the Charge Kick (or tackle, depending on the media piece). The name of the attack explains all. He was made with a highly efficient engine, which generates a lot of heat, as a result, when he executes his attack he expels an unholy amount of heat which burns the victim and negates most attacks. He also shoots flaming coals out of his smokestack, which also burns.
In the megamix he is shown to be friendly, because he works at a amusement park, and cares for the customers in the park. In Dark Moon, he helps the Light Bots and even tries to get them away from the stardroids.
(Now for my headcanons and bs)
He doesn’t mind gender, as long as they can stay with him (he’s panromantic asexual)
He doesn’t mind what you go by either, as long as you tell him (my hc is that Gravity is a he/they and Napalm is a demi-boy, he supports his brothers despite their shenanigans)
He acts like a disappointed dad most of the time, and isn’t afraid to show it
He is reserved about many things, making it hard to learn anything about him
The best way to befriend him is to listen to his stories and ask him about them, it’ll take a while but it’s worth it
He’s highly protective with whoever he loves, also very cuddly in private
When a whole RM line is made, Wily will give the robots a shared personality trait that makes them noticeable and it easily designates them, in the events of MM5, Wily made the line to hoard money and resources, which made them materialistic and thrifty
Whenever he talks, smoke comes out of his mouth, which makes him look like he’s constantly smoking
He coughs a lot for some reason
He’s highly aggressive and may have killed a couple of people
If he was a human, he would be plus sized, about 6’5, and have many freckles
He has a rather deep voice, rarely sings too
Closing remarks about this man is that he is perfect in my eyes
(I’m sorry for posting this I’m a major Chargeman simp and have so much fanart of him, half of my old sketchbooks are full of Chargeman art)
