i’ll never understand why snakes are seen as stupid. at the zoo a few weeks ago i was totally enraptured by the burm, looking into those sharp eyes and seeing those long, deliberate tongue flicks made me feel like i was in the presence of an animal more intelligent and aware than even i am. snakes are some of the most elegant animals on the planet … well, when they’re not falling backwards after climbing up their tank, getting stuck in the recliner, or doing a booboo wheel while eating, not naming names …
