The Recherché
A café hidden within Gridania possessing a great treasure; The wonder of a hearty meal from around the world.
A box is delivered with no sender labelled. Inside is a slice of rolanberry, cream cheese and cinnamon cake with a tiny decoration of a duck. A note lies within, again with no name, but a gold star shaped sticker applied. The paper smells faintly of tea and it's handwriting non-cursive and spaced out evenly to help with reading: "I hope you've had a great day, if not then I hope this gift serves as step towards a brighter one. You're doing great. I'm so proud of you."
The lady was not aware many knew she was in Kugane recently on visit, and with that lack of knowledge, this was all together quite surprising to say the least. This package was offered to her by the inn-keeper, and though she had many a suspicion as to who it may be from, Rivienne found herself mistaken. Sylvain was free of all charges, in this case ( for now ).
There is no sender, nothing indicating as to where this came from, nevertheless, she is careful in opening it, already fearing the worst. Removing it from public, the maiden takes to her private room, and settles it upon her bed.
She is careful in unwrapping it, curious yet dreading what may be inside. To her delight, what rests within is not some ill device to bring her worry or concern, but a treat, rather .. there are three treats upon further inspection.
The sticker is plucked, the paper is looked over and Rivienne catches the faint smell of tea that lingers. Lowering her defenses, she reads the simple note over, and over, as if trying to figure out the handwriting. I’m so proud of you. The words made her smile, and perhaps a little melancholy. It was not often that she heard these words spoken, or written.
This was certainly not Marbella’s work, though perhaps a courier wrote it for her? Ah, Lanceloux was another suspect as well. She would inquire another time, of course. The pieces of cake arrived at quite a time, for her stomach already protested how empty it had been.
