So I watched House (1985) on the plane and I have a theory/ I guess media literacy idea

Spoilers for the movie btw

So Big Ben doing all this crazy supernatural stuff in the house makes sense to get back at Roger for not killing him.

But, what if the house is just using Roger's trauma against him to torment him? Because after his son goes missing there isn't much supernatural stuff shown of the house. Like at all. Roger's aunt says the house is haunted and we don't get much else until Roger moves back in.

So what's to say the house itself didn't try to trick him with more than just his ex wife showing up? Big Ben could've been a trick too.

Why else would Big Ben wait so long and only when Roger moved back in did the supernatural stuff get weird?

And even as the movie ends Roger realized that Big Ben can't hurt him anymore and Big Ben gets defeated. Because! Roger didn't fall for the house's tricks.

This is I guess a theory or just me actually having some media literacy for this movie? Because I can't really see it any other way then the house doing all of this itself.
