You looked yourself over in the mirror to make sure everything was in place. You had your hair curled and let most of it fall down your back and shoulders except for a few locks that you had pinned back to keep out of your face. You wore red lipstick with glitter in it and covered your eyelids with dark blue and black sparkly eyeshadow finished off with perfect winged eyeliner that Freddie taught you to do a few weeks ago. Your black shoes matched your eyeshadow and your dress, Oh your dress was magnificent. It was the same colour as the blue in your eyeshadow and stopped just above the knee. It was fitted in all the right places to show off your figure, but also lose enough to be comfortable dancing in. You felt like a goddess in this outfit and now you couldn’t wait to strut around Freddie’s party and show how beautiful you felt, it didn’t happen often so it would be nice to bask in the attention for once.
You picked a carrier bag and a small black bag that contained some money, your lipstick for, reapplying throughout the night, and your keys. You decided that you would walk to Freddie’s and get a taxi home, you didn’t have a ton of money and two taxi trips would cost too much so you decided that you’d get one on the way home when it’s late and you’d most defiantly be drunk.
Walking up the stairs to Freddie’s apartment you could hear the music increase each flight of stairs you climbed.
When you opened Freddie’s door it was like opening a portal to magical world. There was people everywhere squeezed into the small amount of area, loud music was vibrating you ribs, the smell of alcohol was in the air, and you knew soon the taste would be in your mouth as well.
You spotted Freddie stood in a circle with three other people. As you walked closer you recognised them to be his band mates, you had met them a few times before and started to get to know them, but they had never seen you at a party.
“(Y/N)! Darling!” Freddie wrapped his arms around you tightly. The other settled for a simple hello. “What’s that?” He asked pointing to the carrier bag.
“I bought David Bowie.” You opened the bag to show him the albums.
Roger’s face lit up. “You're brilliant! What are you drinking,” the smile staying on his face, but not his usual cocky grin.
“Vodka and coke, thanks.” You replied as he started to move thorough the crowd.
“You’ve made someone very happy.” Brian said as you redirected your attention back to the group. “He’s a big fan of Bowie, finds it frustrating that other people don’t like him as much as he does.”
“I know the feeling.” You laughed.
Roger returned with your drink. “come on let’s get them records on.” The blonde smiled as he took your hand and led you to Freddie’s record player. Roger flicked through your small collection and smiled when he found the one he desired.
You had a great time talking and drinking with the boys. Sometimes Brian, Freddie or John would walk away to talk to other people they knew. But Roger didn’t. He really enjoyed talking about David Bowie with you, when people came up to him he’d introduce you to them and include you in the conversation. You appreciated this greatly, you didn’t feel left out.
When the group was back together everyone was drunk. “I NEED A PISS!” Roger shouted over the music, in the middle of a conversation.
“GO THEN!” You laughed at him. You continued a conversation with Freddie and John and didn’t notice Brian sneak off.
A few moments later you heard Roger scream. “is he okay?” you asked Freddie then you heard Brian’s laughter.
“Yeah he’s fine. I think Brian just scared him.” Freddie replied. Then you heard Roger called Brian a bastard and you Freddie and John stared laughing. Roger and Brian returned and Roger saw you laughing, “Fuck off.” He joked.
A few moments later your favourite song started playing. “dance with me.” You grabbed Roger leaving no time to argue.
You danced for a song or two , and then a very drunk Deaky walked up. “You're shit at dancing!” He told Roger as he pulled him away from you and took Roger’s place. This made you laugh, louder and uglier than you would have if you were sober but you didn’t care. Roger playfully rolled his eyes and went to refill his drink.
John was one Hell of a dance partner you could barely keep up. You laughed, drank, and sung the lyrics at the top of your voice. But unfortunately the party game to an end. You, Freddie , Roger, John and Brian stayed up after everyone was gone. Cleaning up a little so it was less for Freddie in the morning, then talking, and eventually sat in silence almost falling asleep.
Brian made the first move by accepting defeat and going home. He hugged the other four, mumbled a goodbye and walled out.
“Deaks are you staying?” Freddie asked sleepily.
“Yeah.” He yawned back.
“I best get going.” Roger stood and stretched his back out.
“Me too.” You mumbled.
“Wanna split a taxi?” Roger asked picking up both his and your coat. You didnt live that far away from eachother, roger was a ten minute walk away. You hummed a yes and nodded your head. A chorus of good nights was said and you and Roger left.
The tiredness really hit you when you got in the taxi. And it seemed to get to Roger too because in almost no time at all he was asleep with his head resting on your shoulder. You smiled at him and rested your cheek on the top of his head, his soft hair brushing against your face.
The taxi pulled up to your flat and Roger hadn’t moved. “Roger.” You called hoping he’d wake up. “Rog come on.” You tried a bit louder, but no luck. “Roger wake up.” You shrugged you shoulder. He slowly lifted his head and moaned.
“m’tired.” He rubbed his eyes, barely opening them.
“Do you want stop with me?” You offered, paying the driver.
“Are you sure?” He yawned, his eyes half open.
“I wouldn’t offer if I wasn’t. C'mon.” You grabbed his hand guided him out of the taxi with you. He was tired and drunk so he slung his arm around your shoulder for support when he started to walk.
You opened the door to your flat and guided the drummer to the sofa. He sank into it and laid his head on the back. “I’ll get it sorted in a minute I'm just gonna get my makeup off and change.”
“M’kay.” You grabbed your pyjamas and walked to the bathroom. “(Y/N)?” Roger’s voice echoed through the halls.
“What?” you washed a particularly tough spot of eyeshadow off.
“Do you mind if I smoke?”
“No, of course not.”
After you were changed you gathered up the extra pillows and blankets for Roger. Roger poked his head around your door frame as you found the last pillow. “is it alright if I have a bit water? My mouth is so dry.”
“the glasses are in the cupboard above the sink. And Rog don’t ask next time.” He smiled and walked off.
You dumped the blankets and pillows on t he sofa and saw Roger go into the bathroom. By the time you finished arranging it properly he still hadn’t come out.
You stood outside the bathroom door and knocked twice. “Rog, you alright?” He hummed in response, but you weren’t convinced. “You sure?” you heard him gag before he could respond “I’m coming in.” You opened the door to see the drummer slumped over with his head in the toilet bowl.
He looked up to you with sorry in his eyes “m'sorry, I’m so sorry.”
“Rog don’t worry we’ve all done it.” You knelt down next to him and rubbed his back as he was sick again. He moaned and leaned back against the wall perpendicular to the toilet. “Better?” you slowly rubbed his arm. He nodded. “Do you want to try and move?” He nodded again.
You sat him on your bed while you went to get him a glass of water. When you returned he was slumped against your headboard asleep. “Rog, honey. Come on wake up just for two seconds.” He slowly woke up and drank the water you handed him. Whole he was drinking you decided on letting him sleep in your bed tonight and you take the sofa. You undone the buttons on his shirt, which wasn’t hard because he had only had half of them done up anyway. He only questioned you when you asked him to take his arms out
“Now Roger listen you need to sleep on your side.” You didn’t want him choking on his own sick. He snuggled down into your bed, and fell asleep within seconds.
You left Roger and stood staring at the blankets, still worried about Roger. You sighed and gathered up the pillows and blankets. You quietly opened the bedroom door and pushed the blankets and pillows against Roger’s back to make sure he didn’t roll on his back. Then you pushed your back against the makeshift wall just to be certain. Satisfied that Roger was not going to roll over in his sleep you finally drifted off.
