I attended the opening reception and exhibition of Roger Winter’s oil collection, Cygnus: Paintings of Greenland, Iceland, and Sweden, at the Kirk Hopper Fine Arts Gallery in Deep Ellum. The unassuming store front exterior of the gallery (located in the heart of Deep Ellum and surrounded by bars, coffee shops, and my new favorite noodle bar, Tanoshii Ramen) will leave you surprised and impressed by its alter-ego interior. Winter’s vibrant, bright, and–at times–moody and morose colors were displayed brilliantly against the contrasting neutral walls of the KHFA, as did the crowd, which consisted of the usual socialite suspects that frequent most events on the Dallas social calendar. On this, my second trip to the KHFA, I remain impressed by the level of the art chosen for this niche gallery. Keep your eyes open for KHFA’s future exhibitions. #RogerWinter #artiseverywhere @khfa_dallas
