✉ (muffled screaming)
There was no assembly no notice. Sure a good number of the cadets knew who Breckin McCoy was, he worked on the Fleet's ships and even taught a few engineering and tech classes at the Academy. He was a heart throb as well. Though there was nothing to notify the students who knew him that he'd passed. Except one. And it it only made sense that it would be a child of one of the original members of the Enterprise crew.
A senior officer approached Alia and handed her an envelope. On the front, written in what was unmistakably Breck's handwriting was "Finch" which was the nickname he gave her cause sometimes "Little Bird" was too much to say when he was particularly brain dead, so a finch was the smallest bird he thought of off the top of his head.
Hey Little Bird,
By the time you're reading this, I'll have slipped into that long good night. I'm in the stars now. I wish more than anything you weren't getting this letter. It's worse than a fucking 'Dear John' ya know? And this letter won't be easy to write regardless of the fact that my heart is failing me right now. How do you tell some one you're dying or what do you say knowing the only reason they're gonna be reading this is cause your ticker stopped ticking?
It's a lot to ask of a person. It's unfair really. Cause no one prepares you for a moment like this. No one tells you how to cope or handle it. Though here I am, listening to my heart beat slower and slower. This ship decided she didn't like me too much, so she facilitated in ending my life. Nasty electric shock, a torn wire flew down and hit me dead center on the sternum, now my heart is quitting on me and we don't have the supplies on this ship to fix me. I'll be dead before we hit the atmosphere.
I gotta say Alia, you were the best friend a guy could ask for and a brilliant engineer, you're gonna amazing things one day and I wish I could be there to see it. I had a will drawn up the moment they revived me, I've left every tool, every blueprint, every piece of machinery I own to you, I've also made sure the Fleet knows that you're the only person I trust to pick up where I left off. I know you'll do great things with all that mess.
I'm gonna miss ya girl. Take care. Be good. And if you can't be good, be good at it. Also, take real good care of my guitar, old girl is gonna get lonely if no one plays her now and again.
I'll see you again one day.
Love,Breckin
roguerocket replied to your post: Considering there's a high likelyhood you will in fact die in my arms
//I don’t even actively speak to you and this made me sit back and curl up for a little bit. Great job with the feelings
//Thank you! For the record, I see you on my dash and you're awesome. The whole actively speaking thing needs to change sometime soon.

It wasn't a very busy day in engineering, so the Scotsman spent it doing what he loves to do on his downtime. Reading over engineering logs while relaxing. Upon hearing the footsteps approaching his workstation he smiles, but doesn't look up. His eyes still darting from word to word he addresses his visitor. "I cannae fathom what it is ye're doin' down here, but it is still nice of ye t' come down here an' visit yer favourite engineer..."
