“Ah, well…” she trailed off, hands reaching to the back of her neck. She watched as he waited for a beat, eyes roving across her in confusion. She took off her necklace, stretching the thin silver chain out, handing it to him. “Let’s trade,” He eyed it, before accepting it with clasped hands. “Call it collateral,” she explained. “I have your jacket, you have my necklace. I forget to give you yours back, you ‘forget’ to give me mine back,” He smiled lightly, with his eyes fixed on the broken infinity pendant for a moment. Then, he put it on. “Guess you won’t be able to continue with the search for your soulmate for a couple days?” The necklace seemed to glint around his throat, as if matching the twinkle in his eye. She coughed into her fist, smile playing at her lips, before leaning in conspiratorially, “You know, I think I was scammed on that part,” “No?!” He said, with his own voice dropped to a whisper.
