In regards to the photos of the kids, cousin Hilary Davis sent this great shot that I've never seen before: 

"This photo of the Baker children c. 1903 (??) may help identify the boy(s) in the photos you sent.  I think the boy on the left is my grandfather Richard Kimball Baker.  The girl must be Susan.  The boy on the right – Philip or Roland Jr.?  My mother referred to this boy as “the doomed child.”  So I guess that would be Philip." 

(Philip died of polio either while a student at Middlesex or shortly thereafter — I've had no luck finding more info on him, and according to the librarian in North Hampton, there's no obituary for him in local publications, which would suggest that he was buried elsewhere.) 

"If that’s Philip and Richard in the photo with Susan, I wonder why Roland Jr. isn’t in it." 

Phil, do you know any more info about your uncle Philip or this photo?

Helen adds: “Interesting photo of the 3 children. The boys have such different hair styles and they look fairly close in age. Does the girl in the middle look to be about 3 years old? My first thought was she was younger. Susan Baker (my grandmother) was born in 1900, yes? I suppose the girl in this photo could be 3, or the photo could be from 1902. Or Susan was born late in the year 1900 and this picture was taken in early 1903 or…I need to go home and go back to bed. I have a dim memory of someone telling me, during a rare visit to the Farm, that young Philip’s room was turned into a sort of shrine after his death. There was an oil portrait of him in the family house when Uncle Dick was living there. Or maybe it was when Gaggy was still living at the Farm. Sheesh. I know so little about my family and did not pay enough attention when my mother was giving up one of her rare family anecdotes.”

To answer Helen's question on birth date, Susan Revere Baker was born Mar. 21, 1900 (Happy birthday tomorrow, Ma Sue!), in New Hampshire (I don't have a more precise location in my records), which suggests that this photo may be a little earlier than 1903 -- maybe early 1902 or even 1901? And I unfortunately don't have any birthdate information for any of her brothers: Roland, Philip, or Richard. Does anyone else have that info?
