Suddenly remembered that the Trainspotters Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Engines exists and I can't help but wonder what it entails. We know that it prevents the engines from being punished physically, but what else does it cover?

We know from Thomas' Day Off and Thomas the Babysitter that the engines can have days off and breaks, but is that mandated by the Society or something they just happen to get?

Y'know, I never really thought about it before, but the rescue center is a bit of a weird concept, isn't it? You mean to tell me that this one facility is the emergency response team for the whole island? Or at least for all of the NWR?

Y'know, at some point I thought about making a list of childhood anecdotes about the books, but then I realized that most of them boiled down to "Wow, I thought this thing was like this, but it was actually this!"

And, like, this one isn't any different, but as a kid, I always thought the 60th anniversary Henry was meant to represent Henry and Gordon

I don't remember when exactly I found out Henry was blue for a minute in the books, and if it was mentioned on a card that came with this, I wouldn't know because I only ever saw it in magazines.

#roller's ramblings #ttte henry #might as well fire off some other stories while i'm here #uh when i was four i thought culdee's name was pronounced “coo-ee-dee” because i mistook the 'l' for an 'i'#i called neil “s&m” for a long time because i only knew about him from a sticker book #this one isn't really rws exclusive but for some reason i always thought toby came before henry had his rebuild?#but it didn't dawn on me until like a year ago that that wasn't the case #this one's not a misconception but i was so mad when i found out the skarloey engines were all red in the books #and like this was my fault for not wearing my glasses at home but sir handel and skarloey looked the same to me and it drove me crazy #i had mixed feelings upon finding out that donald and douglas were blue in the books #like i thought it looked really nice but it still felt weird to see #fairly recent one but i always thought that tank engine thomas again was meant to be thomas's first year on the branch line #apparently the stories are spread out across twenty years though?? i kinda hate that actually

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Thomas never had a bad encounter with a diesel in the books, right? Diesel himself, as well as Bowler, Spamcan, and the other visitors were Duck and the main line engines' problems. Toby and Percy had to put up with Daisy, but she saw sense right as Thomas came back. Toby (And I believe Percy? I can't remember if his appearance in Toby's Tightrope was TVS only) butted heads with Mavis, but I don't think we ever see her interact with Thomas.

idk, it feels strange - not a bad strange, but strange nonetheless - that the other ten steamers have had some kind of negative encounter with a diesel, but Thomas was just vibing in the corner.

Y'know, this used to bother me a lot when I was little, but why did Lofty have to sleep outside in Bobsville? He's gone into Muck and Dizzy's shed before so it's not like he was too tall, and there was definitely room to extend Scoop and Roley's shed without blocking off the entrance to the yard. So what gives??

Been rewatching Bob the Builder lately and good grief, I forgot how cute it is. It really is just Bob and Wendy working with their five kids, isn't it?

Been thinking about Kana and Bruno if they were in the original show again (Insert shameless plug of my Kana headcanons) and ended up thinking about their bases.

Bruno is simple enough. I'd make him a bobber caboose since they tended to 'bob' along the tracks, and that reminded me of the way he stims by rocking in AEG. And like every other American in the series, he'd have buffers and screw links.

But Kana's a bit of a weird one. I thought about having her be a 0 series shinkansen, but I don't like how big that would make her. But then I thought about the fact that I'd have her at the Earl's railway museum, and since this is the Earl we're talking about, I feel like that gives me a little leeway to be a little weird.

So let's say Sir Robert commissions a Japanese manufacturer to build him a one of a kind electric engine for his museum, and Kana is the result of that. She wouldn't be as big as Gordon or Caitlin, but not as small as Nia or Thomas. But despite her somewhat small size, she's one of the faster engines on the island, leading to the workmen jokingly calling her the 'Pocket Rocket.'
