Three days into Lucy's hospital stay and she still didn't want to be here. She kept figuring something would make her appreciate this second chance at life, that the pain would fade and she'd thank medecine and luck for her recovery, but it never came. Even though her pain had been reduced to something she only felt when she moved and the doctors had pronounced her to be in much better condition than she logically should be in, the gratitude never came. Instead, she found all she wanted to do was lie in her bed, stare at the ceiling, and pray no one bothered her. That didn't happen, of course. She was a medical anomaly that appeared to have some level of psychological damage, the staff couldn't seem to leave her alone. As if they could do anything to help her.
She turned on her side away from the door, ignoring the pain that flared through her to accompany the motion, just in time for someone to walk in. Lovely. Perhaps if she didn't move they wouldn't ask any questions.
