The Adderall Diaries (2015)

Holy hell this movie was so good. Definitely one of my favorites.

I watched it because it’s A24 and I’m prescribed Adderall.

An acclaimed writer with lots of paternal abuse in his past starts following a murder trial reminding him of his past. It’s shot so so well and reminds me of Euphoria in some ways with the colorings and Requiem with the quick flashing scenes. It’s just composed so beautifully and quite relatable for me which probably is part of why I like it so much.

The cast is amazing and features James Franco, Timothee Chalamet, Christen Slater, and Amber Heard. It’s directed by Pamela Romanowsky who directed 3 episodes of Riverdale but trust me, The Adderall Diaries is directed so well.

It was totally snubbed (only nominated for two awards?!) of awards, but at least it got a nomination for a Tribeca Film Festival award.

It’s available on Netflix and probably 123movies.

This design was the final output from the 2.5 hour long video tutorial that I posted just a few minutes ago, in which I created this design from start to finish in a single sitting. If you're interested in how I do my work, give the video a watch - even if you plan to just to skip through it in chunks. It's cool to see the design evolve in blocks of 10 minutes at a time. :)

Electric Branches - 1 Video Tutorial!

So, I really, really loved my "Electric Branches - 0" design. I think it's one of my most beautiful creations ever, so I absolutely had to revisit that idea. I've also been accumulating a stack of "How do you do that?" questions in my inbox for a while now. So for this design, I decided to record the whole creation process, and explain each step as I work through it, from start to finish. I suppose that this will probably be the first chance that most of you get to hear my voice, and experience some of my... umm... butter smooth... speech patterns... yeah. I watched back through the video briefly, and realized that I make a lot of strange noises when things take a turn toward becoming more pretty.

Since most of my designs are meandering explorations of creativity, they usually take a while to find their direction, and this one was no exception to that pattern. I think that I started the video out saying something like "I thought I would share a quick little video tutorial...", but actually, it's like 2.5 hours long. Umm. Enjoy.
