Plant of the Day
Monday 6 February 2017
Fibigia clypeata (Roman shields) is a member of the Brassicaceae (mustard family). This short lived perennial tends to behave like a biennial so that in the spring of the second year it produces yellow flowers. However, the major display comes later with masses of flat silvery seed pods, good for cutting and use in arrangements. The pods open to reveal golden-brown flat seeds; these will then allow the plant to self-seed around the garden to provide the next generation of plants.
