Peter hadn’t meant to go poking around in the super secret lower basement of SHIELD headquarters, really he hadn’t! He’d been lost and ended up wandering down there by mistake. Well, at least that was the story he was telling Nick Fury when the man inevitably found out he’d been poking around down there. Although, considering the circumstances he might add a few more expletives and beat the director (and possibly Tony Stark) to a pulp afterwards, but that was neither here nor there.
Because what he’d found in that basement, God he shuddered to think about it.
First of all it didn’t look like a basement, he stepped out of the elevator and into a room that looked suspiciously like the seventeenth floor of the Avengers Tower, complete with a window that held an artificial view of a forest landscape. At first he thought he’d stumbled into a SHIELD safe house but safe houses in Peter’s limited (but far more substantial than an eighteen year old should have) -experience didn’t have doors that bolted on the outside. Nor did it have seats with straps that could be used to secure a struggling person, a very strong struggling person if the fact that they were titanium was anything to judge by.
Besides the creepy looking handcuffs the room was comfortably furnished, plush sofas and soft looking blankets thrown over every available surface. There was an open door that seemed to lead to a bedroom and with a sense of foreboding Peter poked his head inside. The bedroom was furnished like the rest of the basement, very Tony Stark-esque, which made Peter more than a little nervous. (Who lived here?) And on the bed, seemingly asleep, was a boy with gleaming white hair and something that resembled a dog’s shock collar fastened around his neck. Clad in blue he was instantly recognizable, Pietro Maximoff, Wanda’s famed dead brother.
Whelp, not dead yet so it seemed.
