It was barely past the noon, and the blonde Cobra had found herself walking down the streets of Valdez, which were ghostly empty. Considering everything that had happened, it was no surprise. Perhaps for the world outside of Valdez those excuses about gas leaking were acceptable and seemed true, but people of Valdez knew better. Still, despite the tragedy happening days ago, most of shops were still closed, as a sign of respect.
Nika stood in front of the Murray & Sons books shop, staring at the names of the victims on the enlarged piece of paper. It was heartbreaking to read all of the names, to connect them with faces, memories she had regarding them. Her arms crossed over her chest, she had stopped on her friend’s husband’s name, lightly shaking her head in disbelief, knowing how the guy had died on the same night his first child was born, when she felt someone’s presence. It was like a shadow, so light, yet so strong. “Do you need something?” The blonde asked never taking her eyes off from the list of the names.
