Remembering Ron Dean and Susan Kendall Newman

Here is my combined remembrance of two actors we lost this week:

Remembering Ron Dean 1938-2025

Actor Ron Dean has died at 87. He appeared in loads of movies and had small but memorable roles in Risky Business, The Fugitive, The Dark Knight, and notably as Andy's father in The Breakfast Club.

Remembering Susan Kendall Newman 1953-2025

Actress / producer Susan Kendall Newman has died at 72. She was the daughter of film legend Paul Newman and his first wife Jackie Witte. Before her stage acting, documentary filmmaking and philanthropy work, she had small parts in Robert Altman's A Wedding and her dad's hockey comedy Slap Shot. Her best role was as Janis, one of six teens sneaking into NYC to meet The Beatles in Robert Zemeckis's debut I Wanna Hold Your Hand.  In 2017, my short film The Beatles Boston played at the Mendon Twin Drive-In between I Wanna Hold Your Hand and A Hard Day’s Night. I was truly honored!
