▐ You’ve survived out in the wild for 2 months before eventually meeting Rick Grimes and his family. You and their group ended up staying in a place called ‘Alexandria’ for a few months, life was better with them. A guy you knew became curious about your life, you shared info about your father and warned him but he brushed the warning off. Little did he know he needed that warning.
✦| Reader is Negan’s daughter, Teenage crushes, Ron(yes Ron lived) and Enid are dating, Maggie and Glenn KINDA take in the reader as their own, gun violence, child endangerment.
You and these people have grown surprisingly close. your father always told you to act superior to those in your area, that they’d be your “workers.” You never listened— and your glad that you didn’t.
It’s been a few months since you’ve been with Rick Grimes and his group. They took you in pretty fast after asking three questions that you answered honestly. You’ve killed 237 zombies, One person, and it was self defense. Nobody asked you about parental figures because they assumed they could be dead.
Eventually you guys all ended up in a place called Alexandria. The place sounded familiar..as if you’ve heard it before but you never questioned it. The people were kind but became a lot better once under Rick’s guidance.
A lot has went down, death..zombies..and the guy you talk to the most lost an eye. He now views himself as ugly but to you he still looks as gorgeous as ever. Luckily y’all’s other two friends Ron and Enid survived the attack. Ron claims shooting Carl in the eye was a misunderstanding, that he wanted to shoot Rick for the loss of his entire family.
The boy convinced people to forgive him but now is watched over. Right now you sat in Carl’s room while he was in the bathroom.
The sunlight gleaming onto your face, blending in with half of you. It was still early in the morning but you were still longing for sleep. Your body stretched and twirled around in the bed trying to figure out a way to stay up, but the body needs the rest.
Your body almost claimed victory until a door creaking woke you up instantly. You shot up and turned around locking eyes with the sheriff’s kid, Carl Grimes. Carl suspected you to be here since you’ve been showing up either late at night or extremely early in the mornings everyday.
The boy let out a small laugh at your immediate reaction as he sat down on his bed next to you. He leaned back onto the headboard and kept one leg on the bed while the other dangled. It was obvious he just got done changing or looking at his bandage since it looked very newly placed..though a little crooked.
Your gaze shifted before he could realize you were staring. It was no secret that Carl despised his eye. When he woke up after the incident, Carl refused to look anyone in the eyes expect for the woman that was taking care of his injuries.
There was an awkward silence between you two before you spoke up. “..Are you still mad?” Even though you weren’t looking at the guy, you could feel his eye piercing through your skin.
“At Ron? Who isn’t?” Carl spoke with a sharp tone but still a hint of calmness in his voice. He could probably yell at anyone for asking that question but never you.
“Right..dumb question.” You tried to sink into the bed hoping you’d drown in it and never see someone again. The movement you were doing seemed to make Carl less upset. He leaned closer to you and gave a soft genuine smile.
“I didn’t say that. It’s reasonable to ask since we got along when we first met but..he was after my dad. That’s unforgivable.” His voice carried comfort and softness through your body.
Eventually he turned back onto his back and faced the ceiling, you did the same. The two of you do this so much it’s basically a morning routine.. staying like this until Rick or Michonne come knocking.
“Now it’s my turn to ask something.”
You looked at the boy, his attention still on the ceiling but his thoughts were filled with millions of questions.
“Alright..shoot your shot.” A tiny laugh escaped.
“What really happened to your family? I know none of us have ever asked but..i’m curious.”
Your chest started to sting. The family you once stayed with wasn’t a topic you thought about in a while. You were terrified to tell the guy but..he deserved to know. Everyone did.
You sat up on the bed, pulling your knees up against your chest with a sigh. Next to you, Carl rested himself on one arm to prop himself up.
“Well..” you started. “My mom died early during the apocalypse. It was suicide..at least that’s what my dad said. He said she overdosed on her pills.” Your expression saddened and your words were interrupted with small voice cracks. One’s that didn’t go unnoticed.
Before Carl could respond, you started back up again. “My dad..he’s still here but evil i guess. He runs some type of community where he claims everyone’s safe. Though in order to get those people..he does something bad.”
“Like.?”
“He kills the innocent. He wants people to fear and surrender their lives to working for him.” Tears threatened to form but you refused to let them out, not with him next to you.
“..We can save those people can’t we?” Carl sat up. “It’s not impossibl—”
“No!” You shouted, catching Carl off guard. “People have tried.” You reached out grabbing the boy’s hands and pulling them close.
“Trust me. Please.” Your voice cracked, eyes glossy with tears that were almost out.
There was a long pause. You stared at your hands but Carl’s gaze remained on your face. He still thought that they could possibly take on your father and his people but didn’t dare to say it out loud, not around you.
“okay..” he agreed silently and his head nodded. “we’ll make sure to keep our distance. I’ll even tell my father about it.” A smile rose upon his face. The boy moved a small part of your hair and lifted your chin so you’d make eye contact.
“I trust you. Now you need to trust me.”
Right as you started to nod the door finally swung open, just around the same time as usual. This time it was Maggie with a baby Judith in her hands. She let out a small “coo” while reaching out and waving.
Time went on and the day went on like any other day since you’ve arrived. You were out gardening with Maggie and Carl. The only noise that could be heard was the wind blowing past your ears and..carl’s small laughs? You shifted your attention to the guy who held a small grin on his face, he was already looking right at you.
“What? is there something on my face?” You started to lift your hands but he was quicker, carl reached and stopped you.
“no no, just something i remembered from yesterday.” he smiled.
“right..” you didn’t believe him but it was fine. There was another moment of silence before Carl spoke back up.
“so..about your dad.” you turned to him as he spoke. “is he really as bad as you say?”
You couldn’t figure out why he was bringing it up again. a small ache started to form in your chest and you bit your cheek. “uh..yeah. he’s not really someone i like to talk about anymore because of it.”
“he hasn’t always been the best.” you mumbled.
Carl was quick to notice your discomfort. He nodded slowly not wanting to push you, and because of Maggie who seemed to be ease dropping.
A few weeks have went by since your last talk. Many things have changed. Right now you were out with Enid and Ron. You guys couldn’t go too far out due to some circumstances that nobody bothered to tell you guys about because of “trust issues.”
You three stopped at an abandoned gas station for any possible leftover food.
“Just like i said earlier, there’s nothing here.” Ron scoffed as he walked through the empty shelves. Every other place you guys went to was empty, it was no surprise that this place was too.
You turned to look at him. “Don’t give up, If they can find food in random places then i’m sure we’ll find a gas station that has stuff.”
“Are you thinking before you speak!? They’ve looked through every area close to alexandria, there is NOTHING here.” Ron yelled as he got closer to you. If carl was here he would’ve been quick to push the guy away..but he wasn’t.
“You don’t know that! Rick and his group don’t always come here!”
“Stop acting like you know Rick and those people!”
The two of you were practically yelling at each other. Enid desperately tried to shut you guys up because any close walkers would’ve heard and been on their way by now.
“I know them more than you!”
“Clearly you don’t!”
You guys kept screaming over each other, it got chaotic. It wasn’t until a gunshot fired that made you guys stop. You both turned to enid who seemed just as confused but frightened.
“what was-..” Ron started before another shot rang out. This time it bursted through a broken window and hit you straight in the chest.
You let out a loud cry as people started running in. People you’ve never seen..at least you thought so.
Guys started grabbing at the three of you guys not giving a damn if it hurt or not. Your vision blurred as you were pulled up and dragged into a van.
Before you knew it, your body got thrown in along with your two friends. The light from the sun quickly disappeared as the doors slammed close along with your eyes.
Nobody knew how long you were out. When your eyes opened again you were patched up but outside. It was no longer daytime yet there was still light coming from all around. It took a moment to realize you were surrounded by vehicles and many men. Not only that but Rick Grimes and his crew were lined up by you.
Slowly..your memory started to restore. It all made sense now. Your dad.
Your father must’ve read your mind or something because before you knew it, he came out of his van swinging around the bat that horrified you. You knew the horrible things it could do..but it was already too late to stop it.
“Hello babygirl.” your dad had a wicked grin form on his face, you felt many many eyes turn towards you.
