It may just look like a hot dog on flatbread, but the flavor was amazing. :)
But HOW did it taste? Because I can guarantee that if I was in Star Wars Land (which I have been) and ordered a “Ronto Wrap” (which I did not), if this was what was handed to me, I’d have been immediately disappointed and hated everything about it, no matter how it tasted.
I was thinking it would be bits of meat, not a “hot dog”-looking thing. And I had felt bad about missing it, but...I tried a LOT of new things on that trip (the poutine at the Red Rose Tavern, which you and I both probably know better as the Village Haus, from our pasts as cast members) was pretty darned good, especially for my first time tasting poutine. The waffle fries were an interesting take based on what I’d heard about poutine, but...I liked them. I’m not above trying something new -- which is where Walt Disney World generally has Disneyland beat -- with the World Showcase especially, there’s a HUGE chance I can try something new and enjoy it, though that’s not always the case -- I loved the atmosphere of Restaurant Marrakesh, and that doesn’t just mean liking the belly dancer -- the waitstaff was amazing, as was the architecture, but the food was kind of bland for my tastes; but I may have just been there one a bad night).
But if I’d have ordered a Ronto Wrap, I would have expected something new and different. I wouldn’t expect a Star Wars “ronto” to be a hot dog. I’m supposed to be eating something from some place I’ve never been, and they give me a...hot dog.
And...just the visual appeal, to me, is just not there. And it would 100% affect my enjoyment of any flavors (amazing though they may be) when I ate it.
I’m 100% glad you liked the flavor. And I may actually try it on my next trip (whenever that may be). I trust your judgement, as long as we’ve known each other.
I’m just VERY GLAD I saw that pic before actually ordering one. Because my reaction to seeing it had I ordered one in September would have been...just...
At least I’ll now know to expect a hot dog (maybe a delicious hot dog, but a hot dog nonetheless) if I order one in the future.
