"Did you hear? Someone glued all the erasers in all the classes on the second floor!"
"Is it the same person who put those fake rubber mice in the girl's changing rooms?"
"Maybe. Who do you think it is though? My money is on that troublemaker in Class 2-A. The one with yellow hair, blue eyes and annoyingly loud. From what I heard..."
Like an unspoken rule, whispers started to fly the moment the bell indicated every student's favorite time of the day; lunch hour. Harried steps left their individual classrooms, eager to fulfill their owner's respective needs. Some wanted to reach the cafeteria before the brunt of the lunch rush hits. Others simply wished to meet up with their friends to woe about overdue projects, the mounds of homework the teacher gave or gossip, like they were doing now.
With a look of utter boredom on his face, Morty quietly closed his locker door, heaving a mute sigh. Silently shuffling through the throngs of students, it was easy being unnoticeable like always. No one really gave a second thought to the quiet blonde kid, which was both a blessing and a curse. Sure, if they initiated the first contact, his more talkative side would come out since there was actually someone that'd listen.
But more often than not, his classmates would only gave him polite smiles, friendly waves and the usual small talk. They never really wanted to spend more time with him, opting to hang out with their own friends. Morty often toyed with the idea of approaching them himself before his own apprehensive nature took over. The blonde often cursed his inability to become more social, though it was expected given his past.
Still, that was the reason why he moved here in the first place. What better way to forget the bad memories of before than creating cherished memories of the present? Despite his best efforts, Morty didn't really have someone he could call a friend. Acquaintances, yes. A true companion, no. The pent up frustration and energy that collected with every failure needed an outlet and that came in the form of pranks.
He always had a mischievous side, something he mostly kept buried. Until now, that is. Given his quiet, polite persona, the student was never within the circle of suspects. He used it to his advantage, planning out more elaborate pranks as time went on. Morty understood that he needed a healthier option of releasing all the negativeness and yet, there was no one that could lend a willing ear without blabbing his exploits to the teacher.
The blonde really wished he could make a friend.
Ten minutes later, Morty arrived at his destination; the school roof. Not a lot of students came up here since they thought it was off limits to them. The teachers simply discouraged them in fear of their safety but in truth, anyone could be up there. The male had found this spot in his second week here and since then, he had been having lunch up here in silence and solitude. No one else ever bothered to make the trip up here.
Well, except for that lone female that sat quietly in the same spot every single time.
