Axes Round 2: Phila vs Basilio

@rooksummoned vs. @feroxiox Coin Toss: Phila strikes first

“Chrom, I don’t think my nerves can handle this. The Captain of my Guard, versus the Khan of Ferox? I would like both of them to win. Is that not an option?”

“On the one hand, I know Khan Basilio makes you smile so I want to support him. However, the exact reasons why- Alright, fine. I won’t start anything publicly. Besides, I did promise to help him wi- Er, let’s s-start the match.”

PHILA: 11 strike (Anemone) vs. NAT 20 DEFENSE

Phila makes a strong move for an early lead, but as she closes the distance between herself and the Khan, Basilio counters. The flash of his anemone flower distracts Phila for a moment, and that is long enough for Basilio to find an opening. He strikes, scoring a bonus hit!

BASILIO: 9 strike v. 6 defense

PHILA: 8 strike v. 4 defense

BASILIO: NAT 20 STRIKE v. 16 defense

 Basilio lets out a hearty ‘Gar har har!’ as he moves light on his feet. For a burly man, he is swift, and he executes a perfect double-swing, catching Phila with not one, but two hits!

PHILA: NAT 20 STRIKE v. 17 defense

Phila proves why she is the captain of the Queen’s Guard. After Basilio’s one-two swing, she lunges underneath his reach and brings the hilt of her ax up under his chin for a SHARP strike.

BASILIO: 12 strike v. 15 defense

“G-Go Phila! Go Khan Basilio! They’re both fighting so strongly! Chrom, I can hardly watch, its too much!”

“Both of them are clearly searching for opportunity when we list expect it. I guess that’s how it goes when both sides have so much experience under their belts.”

PHILA: 10 strike v. 19 defense

BASILIO: 19 strike v. 12 defense

PHILA: 16 strike v. 11 defense

BASILIO: 17 strike v. NAT 20 DEFENSE

Basilio moves to strike, but Phila smirks as she moves to counter. Yet before the captain can get in an extra strike, Basilio sees the glint of the pearl earring on his favor, it sparkles in the light just slightly, and he slides his foot to the right, evading Phila’s attack.

PHILA PEONY BONUS: 3 strike v. 3 defense

The battle ends with both axes locked, the warriors agreed on a good match.

“B... Basilio won? Oh, Congratulations, Khan Basilio!”

“Emm, are you blushing?”

“No, don’t be silly-- Oh, and very good work, Captain Phila! I am as proud as ever to have you on my Queen’s Guard!”

Jousts Round 2: Seth vs Ingrid

“Our final joust of the day! Whoever wins this will be securing themselves a seat in the finals. The stakes are high!”

“Every time I look at a horse, I get flashbacks.”

SETH’S MOUNT: 6 speed ; 19 fear

While Seth’s horse is feeling slow today, it is not scared in the least. 

INGRID’S MOUNT: 2 speed ; 16 fear

Much like Seth’s, Ingrid’s horse is sure of itself and Ingrid, and even though its hooves feel heavy, it is confident.

“Two steady-minded horses. That is a good sign for a joust.”

“Why can’t I be this lucky?”

Round 1

SETH: 2 strike ; no hit

INGRID: 8 strike ; no hit

Round 2

SETH: 9 strike ; no hit

INGRID: 11 strike ; HIT!

Ingrid’s strike is not very centered, but it is the off-centered nature of it that proves to be Seth’s downfall. Ingrid strikes the edge of Seth’s shield, near his shoulder, and sends him reeling. Seth struggles to say in the saddle, and as his heels slip away from the stirrups, the General of Renias tumbles out of his saddle and hits the ground.

“Oh, a hard strike from Lady Ingrid! That decides the match, then. You performed valiantly, General Seth!”

“Sometimes, it’s only the slightest differences in skill than can decide a duel or joust. Or a really unlucky hit. Congratulations to our final winner of the day, Ingrid!”

Furia Harbor is bustling, Nyna notes, as she strides down the main thoroughfare to the harbor, looking for anyone in need to assistance. After giving up her throne to the Altean prince, Nyna has been wandering the continent as a traveling bishop, trying to help heal what the wars have done to the land and the people.

Aside from a few polite bows, the people don’t treat her as a princess or an empress, and Nyna is grateful. She pats children on the head and accepts flowers from them as gifts, before shooing them gently back to their mothers. It’s a breath of fresh air, to just be a normal holy woman.

A distraught looking woman at the docks catches her gaze, and Nyna approaches. The woman’s hair is a soft green, reminding Nyna a bit of the oldest of the Whitewing sisters - if only Palla had such a soft, trusting face.

“Ah, ma’am? You look terribly upset. Is there something I can do to assist you?”

     he’s still in the priory when he starts awake, fingers clutching for a weapon that isn’t there as his mind begs for a lance, a sword, anything at all -- he’s not even fully awake when he jolts upright despite his battered body’s protest in the form of a searing pain lancing through him. he’s not knocking on death’s door and begging to be let in anymore thanks to that cleric’s aid, but he’s definitely in no shape to be jumping up to fight.

     ( jumping to attention, more like, back ramrod straight as he’d been taught, of course he’d been taught, he was a military man, the best of them all -- )

      he’s not even sure where he is for a moment until the cleric stirs at his side, her legs tucked into the chair she had dragged into the room to oversee him. she makes a noise like being roused from sleep and somewhere in his panic, his heart jerks with a bitter sense of guilt over being the one to wake her.

         “ l. . .lady tatiana, why are you still here? ” it takes a momentous effort to stop his voice shaking, his hands twisted into the sheets to still his trembling.

Ishtar Starter Call || @fireinclined / @rooksummoned ( Veronica)

Ishtar knew what it was like to be trapped behind the machinations of someone who didn't give a damn about you. It was one of the few reasons she didn't feel angry at the woman who'd used her twisted magic to summon and bind her here with Ares and Lene, guarding the borders of this hellishly hot country her apparent master ruled. It was an almost insulting waste of her abilities, even if they did seem to be fairly muted by comparison. 

It was also part of the reason why she'd spent most of her 'free' time studying the magic that kept her locked here following those commands. She'd never been much good at the theoretical side of magic - that had always been Ishtore's specialty, the woman tending to almost cheat her proficiency thanks to Mjolnir. At times like this she missed her brother and his fiance more than ever, she realized reluctantly - Lisa would have thought a dozen ways out of this situation by now, Ishtore would have cracked the magic, and they could have escaped. Maybe even dragging Veronica with them. 

At least Julius isn't here She conceded to herself with a slight nod of her head. It meant she could distance herself from her other problems right now, focusing only on the ones that she actually stood a chance of fixing while isolated.   She'd heard that the others had been freed after being beaten in combat. Maybe there was some truth to that, or maybe it was whispered propaganda from Embla and Muspel's enemies to try and make the other nations heroes easier to defeat. She couldn't quite tell. 

Oh, good, and the bitch was back. Just because she could empathize and even felt sorry for Veronica didn't mean she appreciated ending up as a tool in yet another person's webs. 

"Welcome back." Ishtar said, almost snippy. She eyed Xander, the damned royal that always seemed to be hovering over her shoulder, and narrowed her eyes. What was his angle? God, she wished she was good at figuring this kind of stuff out. "Will you be staying long?"
